Plus – and this is something I didn’t expect – you’re actually within walking distance of some really decent neighborhood tavernas that haven’t been completely overrun by tourists. There’s this little place around the corner where the owner’s grandmother still makes the dolmades, and you’ll see more locals than foreigners, which is getting harder to find in this part of town.

Honestly, if you’re coming to Athens and the Acropolis is high on your list (and let’s be real, it should be), staying here just makes practical sense. You’ll save money on taxis, skip the morning crowds because you can time your visits perfectly, and you’ll have those pinch-me moments when you realize you’re literally living in the shadow of one of humanity’s greatest architectural achievements. Just book early – places like this don’t stay available long, especially during shoulder season when the weather’s perfect and everyone’s figured out that spring in Athens is absolutely magical.
