Athens Marriott Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Athens Marriott Hotel on Syggrou Avenue, you immediately sense this is a five-star property that takes itself seriously — but in the best possible way. The lobby feels genuinely luxurious without being stuffy, and honestly, after a long flight into Athens, that marble coolness and polished service hit just right. I mean, you’re technically in Palaio Faliro rather than the historic center, but that actually works in your favor here — you get all the sophistication without the tourist chaos.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about this spot: couples consistently rate the location 8.5 out of 10, and after staying here, I get why. You’re positioned perfectly between the coast and the city center, with the tram literally at your doorstep that whisks you to Syntagma Square in about 20 minutes. The beach at Flisvos Marina is a pleasant walk away — something most Athens hotels can’t offer. Plus, you know what? Having that bit of distance from the Acropolis crowds means you can actually relax when you come back each evening.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in faced the Saronic Gulf, and those views — well, they’re the kind that make you linger by the window with your morning coffee. Everything feels properly luxurious, from the marble bathroom to the crisp linens, though it’s the little touches that impressed me most. The soundproofing actually works (rare in busy Athens), and the air conditioning runs quietly enough that you’ll sleep well even in summer heat. The repeat guest rate here is notably high, which tells you something about how comfortable people find these spaces.
Dining & Amenities
Breakfast deserves its own mention — they’ve got this massive buffet setup that covers everything from continental classics to full English, plus vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, and gluten-free options. I was skeptical about hotel breakfast variety, but they actually pull it off without compromising quality. The main restaurant serves solid Mediterranean cuisine, though honestly, with Athens’ incredible food scene just a tram ride away, you’ll probably want to explore. The spa and fitness facilities feel genuinely premium — not just afterthoughts like at some business hotels.
Why Guests Love It
What strikes me most is how this place manages to feel both sophisticated and genuinely welcoming. The staff seems to recognize returning guests (and there are many), creating this sort of refined familiarity that’s hard to fake. Parking is available, which anyone who’s driven in Athens will appreciate, and the overall 8.3 rating reflects what you actually experience — consistently good service in a property that delivers on its luxury promises. It’s the kind of place where you can decompress after intense sightseeing days, then head back into the city feeling properly refreshed.

Rita from United Kingdom (7/10)
George from Greece (9/10)
My stay was exceptional, starting with the very friendly front desk staff who upgraded me to a junior suite at no extra cost. The suite was spacious, featuring a walk-in closet, a large bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower, and a comfortable bed with high-quality pillows and a mattress. The room had a stunning view of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, which looked magical at night with all the Christmas lights. Room service was prompt, friendly, and offered generous portions with everything I needed, even though it was a bit pricey. The soundproof windows ensured complete silence despite the busy Syngrou Avenue outside, and the entire room was spotless and tidy. A thoughtful touch was being provided with an umbrella for a rainy day, even after I had checked out.
