Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Athens, and AVM Suites – Athens Thissio Center honestly surprised me in the best way possible. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, this is going to work”? That’s exactly what happened here. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without being cold or sterile – actually, it reminded me of those boutique hotels you see in design magazines, but without the pretentious attitude.

What really sold me on this place was the location. I mean, Thissio is one of those neighborhoods that tourists kind of stumble through on their way to the Acropolis, but locals actually hang out there. You’re literally a stone’s throw from the Ancient Agora – I could see it from my window – but you’re also surrounded by these great little tavernas and coffee shops that don’t scream “tourist trap.” There’s this fantastic souvlaki place just around the corner that I probably visited three times during my stay (don’t judge me). The metro station is super close too, which honestly saved my feet after long days of wandering around the city.

The suites themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place, but with some thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. My room had this little kitchenette area that was perfect for making morning coffee – and the coffee they provided was actually decent, not that instant stuff you sometimes get. The bathroom was spacious with really good water pressure, which might sound trivial until you’ve had a day of walking in 35-degree heat and just want a proper shower. One thing I particularly appreciated was how quiet it was at night. Athens can be pretty lively (putting it mildly), but the windows here actually block out most of the street noise. I’m a light sleeper, so this was huge for me.

The staff deserves a mention too – they’re the kind of helpful where they’ll give you actual recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the most expensive tourist restaurants. The guy at the front desk told me about this amazing little museum nearby that I never would have found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, and they were flexible about letting me store my bags after checkout, which made my last day much more relaxed.

Honestly, with a 9.3 rating, I was expecting good things, but sometimes those numbers can be misleading. Not here though – this place earns it. It’s one of those hotels where everything just works the way it should, without any unpleasant surprises or corners cut. If you’re looking for something centrally located but not right in the chaos of Plaka, and you want a place that feels like quality without breaking the bank, AVM Suites hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  The location was perfect, just a short walk to all the fun and scenic spots. The apartment was very clean and beautiful, super spacious for the two of us and had all the amenities we needed. The most important was that the staff was very hospitable and accommodating!

  Great location,nearby to market,bakery and very nice restaurant. You need only 5minutes to Acropol. Accomodation is very comfortable. You have everything you need. And the biggest value is nice,big terrace. If you choose this suites,be sure,that you made the right decision.

  AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE ! ARIADNE SUITE in which we stayed was Exhellent. Everything Brand new, comfortable bed and couch- bed, A great diveded space quite large for 3 persons. Very well equipped.
  We could find cafes, restaurants and supermarkets under a minute away, and close to Akropolis and the centre markets – Monastiraki ( 10 minute walk).
  Hosts were very helpful and immediate with everything we asked !!!
