You’re right in the Koukaki neighborhood, which – if you know Athens at all – is that sweet spot where locals actually live but you’re still walking distance to everything that matters. I could literally see the Acropolis from the living room window (okay, you have to lean a bit to the left, but still). The apartment itself feels like someone who actually has taste designed it, not just threw together whatever looked good on Instagram. The two bedrooms are properly sized – I mean, you can actually open your suitcase without doing yoga moves around the bed. The kitchen surprised me too; it’s got real appliances, not those tiny European things that make you question your life choices when you’re trying to make coffee for four people.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the building is quiet. Like, properly quiet. I was expecting typical city noise since you’re so close to Syngrou Avenue, but honestly, I slept better there than I do at home sometimes. The check-in was smooth too, which isn’t always a given with apartment rentals (we’ve all been there, standing on a street corner at 9 PM trying to figure out which buzzer to press). Walking to the Acropolis Museum takes maybe eight minutes if you’re not in a rush, and there’s this little bakery around the corner that does these incredible spanakopita – the kind that locals queue up for at 7 AM. The metro station is close enough that you’ll use it, but far enough that you won’t hear the trains.

What really gets me about this place is that it feels like Athens without the tourist trap nonsense. You’re in a real neighborhood where people walk their dogs and argue about football, but you can still stumble back from dinner in Plaka without taking a €20 taxi ride. The WiFi actually works (crucial for those of us who can’t completely disconnect), and there’s proper air conditioning, which – trust me on this – you’ll want if you’re visiting between May and September. I’d honestly stay here again, and that’s saying something because I’m usually the type who wants to try somewhere new every time.

Clean and fresh, good bed linen, excellent air con. Perfect kitchen facilities, coffee machine, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle, double hob, washing machine. Small courtyard area with airer to dry clothes and sit to eat. A few essential provisions provided, coffee, oil, vinegar, coffee filters, salt and pepper. Bedrooms are a good size one a little larger than the other.
