Cityzoe Athens Suites Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Cityzoe Athens Suites on a quiet side street in Plaka, you immediately get that feeling — you know, when you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star property sits right in the heart of historic Athens, and I mean literally in the heart of it all. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you step inside, you’ll understand why couples are rating the location a perfect 9.9. Honestly, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Athens, and this spot just hits differently.

The Perfect Plaka Position

Here’s what most travel guides won’t tell you about staying in Plaka — location is absolutely everything, and Cityzoe nails it. You’re literally steps away from the Ancient Agora and about a five-minute stroll to the Acropolis entrance, but here’s the thing — you’re tucked away on Lisikratous Street, which means you get all the benefits without the tourist chaos. I actually walked to most major sites from here, and there’s something magical about wandering back through those narrow cobblestone streets after a day of sightseeing. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings with locals heading to nearby tavernas, and you feel like you’re part of the city rather than just visiting it.

The Suites Experience

The room I stayed in was more like a proper apartment than a typical hotel space — and that makes all the difference when you’re spending several days exploring Athens. Each suite has this thoughtful layout that gives you breathing room, which you’ll appreciate after navigating crowded archaeological sites all day. The design strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and subtle nods to Greek aesthetics, though they don’t go overboard with the theme. What I really loved was having space to spread out my maps, guidebooks, and all those little souvenirs you inevitably pick up wandering through the Monastiraki flea market.

Neighborhood Life

You know what’s great about this location? You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from Syntagma Square that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you step outside. There’s a little corner café about two blocks away where locals actually go for coffee — not the touristy spots that charge double for the same freddo espresso. And if you’re into evening walks (which you should be in Athens), the route from here up toward Lycabettus Hill is absolutely perfect for sunset. The staff actually gave me some insider tips about which tavernas in the area are family-run versus the ones that cater mainly to tour groups.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.2 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen — it reflects what happens when a hotel gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. The combination of prime Plaka positioning, thoughtfully designed suites, and genuine local knowledge from the staff creates this experience that feels both authentic and comfortable. Couples especially seem to love it here, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having your own little Athens hideaway while being able to walk hand-in-hand to ancient ruins and cozy tavernas. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay, which honestly, several guests I met were actually doing.

Reviews of Cityzoe Athens Suites

First of all, Mandy has been one of the best hosts we've ever had. She was always willing to help and make your stay go as smooth as possible, from organizing our transfers with super friendly drivers at reasonable prices to explaining all the must-see spots in Athens!

The location couldn't be better, it's in the heart of Athens and all the main places to visit in Athens are within walkable distance (and on top of that, you'll have a lot of restaurants, souvenir shops, etc. as well), the only taxi we took was to get to CityZoe when we arrived and then taxi that took us to the airport upon departure!!

Cleanliness was 10/10, everything smelled really nice and was super clean. The suite was very comfortable and we loved the layout and the small balcony it had (I wish I had used it more). It also had a rooftop where you can see the Acropolis!!!

The value is great, specially if you consider the fact that you can walk everywhere and not miss anything. You save money on bus, metro or taxi when staying here. To me this is a no-brainer, and next time we will visit Athens, we won't hesitate to come back to CityZoe again.

I liked the size of the room and how comfortable it was. Moreover, the location is ideal, as it is close to a flea market and there are many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants. I definitely recommend Cityzoe Athens Suites.

  • Mary from Greece (10/10)

The hotel was in a very central location, clean and modern with very comfortable beds. There was a coffee machine and small fridge. Aside from that the staff, in particular Mandy, were fabulous. So kind, friendly and helpful.

It was everything I imagined it to be! The staff treated me like family. The room was quaint with a balcony view of other residences. It made me feel like I was living there. Literally close to everything I needed! Next trip I will be staying here. Loved the terrace on the 3rd floor, it had a wonderful view!
