I mean, you could stay in Plaka with all the other tourists, but why would you when you can have authentic Greek life right outside your door?

The Apartment Experience

The flat itself — and it really does feel more like an apartment than a hotel room — gives you space to actually live for a few days. There’s a proper kitchen where you can store those amazing Greek yogurts and honey from the local market, plus a living area that doesn’t feel cramped. The bedroom is surprisingly quiet considering you’re in a major city, and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually works well (you’d be surprised how often hotels get this wrong). What I really appreciated was the balcony — small, yes, but perfect for morning coffee while watching the neighborhood wake up.

Getting Around

The location really shines when it comes to transportation. Marousi metro station connects you to both lines of the Athens Metro, so you can reach pretty much anywhere in the city without transfers. But honestly, some of my favorite discoveries happened just walking around the area. There’s this little taverna about ten minutes away where the owner’s grandmother still makes the dolmades, and you’ll find a proper Greek coffee shop (not the tourist version) where locals actually hang out and play backgammon. The Olympic Athletic Center is also nearby if you’re into that sort of thing, though I spent most of my time exploring the more traditional side of the neighborhood.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.5 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big fuss about it. Couples particularly seem to love it here, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about having your own little Athens apartment, cooking breakfast together, then heading out to explore the city. You get the independence of a rental with the reliability of a hotel, plus you’re staying somewhere that feels genuinely Greek rather than generically international. It’s not the cheapest option in Athens, but for what you get — the space, the location, the authentic neighborhood experience — it’s actually quite reasonable.
