I mean, when I first walked into this 4-star boutique spot, I wasn’t expecting much because, well, Athens has been flooded with trendy hotels lately, but this one actually gets it right.

The thing that struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to capture that dreamy, almost otherworldly vibe without going overboard with the mystical Greek theme that so many places lean into. The interiors have this soft, ethereal quality (see what they did there?) with natural light filtering through these gorgeous gauze curtains, and the marble – oh, the marble – it’s clearly local Pentelic stone, the same stuff they used for the Parthenon. The staff mentioned it casually during check-in, but you can tell they’re genuinely proud of these details. Speaking of check-in, it’s refreshingly smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation.”

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it feels like a proper Athens experience rather than some sanitized hotel bubble. The neighborhood has this wonderful residential energy during the day, with locals heading to work and kids walking to school, but it transforms into something quite magical in the evenings when the nearby tavernas start filling up. You’ll hear the gentle clatter of plates and soft conversations drifting up from the street – it’s actually quite soothing rather than disruptive. The soundproofing is solid too, so if you’re a light sleeper, you won’t be counting sheep to the rhythm of late-night conversations.

I have to say, that 9.4 rating makes complete sense once you’ve spent a night or two here. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with these incredible views – depending on which side you’re on, you might catch glimpses of ancient ruins peeking between modern buildings, or overlook one of those charming Athens courtyards where neighbors still hang laundry and tend to their plants. The bathrooms are spacious (a genuine rarity in European boutique hotels), and they’ve got this rainfall shower that honestly made me consider extending my stay just for the morning routine.

One thing I really appreciated – and this might sound minor, but trust me on this – they’ve figured out the perfect lighting. So many hotels either leave you squinting under harsh fluorescents or fumbling around in romantic dimness when you’re trying to find your passport. Here, there’s this warm, natural glow throughout the day that shifts beautifully as the sun moves across the city. It’s especially gorgeous during that golden hour when Athens really shows off.

If you’re planning a trip and want somewhere that feels authentically Athenian but still pampers you a bit, Ethereal Athεns hits that sweet spot perfectly. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually want to spend time in your room, but you’ll also feel inspired to get out and explore because the energy is just right – relaxed but not sleepy, elegant but not stuffy.

  I luv everything about this property. Location close to many restaurants selections, shoppings and attraction pick up and airport bus and easy check in. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Our room was spacious and clean. They supplied 2 water bottles everyday during our stay. Because the hotel/apartment is closed to shopping area which can get busy at night or some street performance at nite witj loud music, this may be an issue to some guest. But it was not for us.
