You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Iris – honestly, the name made me think it might be one of those trying-too-hard boutique places. But this 4-star spot completely caught me off guard in the best possible way. The lobby has this understated elegance that actually feels genuine, not like someone hired a designer to make it “Instagram-worthy.” There’s natural light pouring in through these tall windows, and the staff at check-in were refreshingly normal people who seemed to actually care about making sure I had what I needed.

What really impressed me (and I mean this – I’m usually pretty critical about hotels) is how they’ve managed to nail all the little things that most places mess up. The rooms are thoughtfully designed without being fussy, the Wi-Fi actually works everywhere, and – this might sound weird – but the elevators are properly quiet. You don’t realize how much hotel elevator noise bothers you until you stay somewhere that gets it right. The beds are properly comfortable too, not just expensive-feeling, and they’ve got blackout curtains that actually black out the room. I’m a light sleeper, so this stuff matters to me more than fancy marble bathrooms (though theirs are pretty nice too, just saying).

But here’s the thing that really sets Iris apart – it feels like the kind of place that gets better the longer you stay. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work, the front desk remembers your name after day one, and there’s this attention to detail that you don’t usually see until you hit 5-star territory. With a 9.8 rating, I was curious if it could possibly live up to the hype, but honestly? It does. The location works really well too – you’re not stuck in some tourist trap area, but you’re not so far out that getting anywhere becomes a project. I ended up extending my stay by two nights, which I basically never do, but I just wasn’t ready to deal with airport hotels and early morning flights when I could hang out here instead.

  It is a great apartment in a good location with a lot of coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. At the apartment, all the facilities are new and clean and also very beautiful. The balcony was perfect. There is careful attention to tiny details like candles and umbrella for the rain and also lovely treats like honey and butter. All the recommendations were clear and good. It was a perfect holiday for us.

  Lovely apartment with such a wonderful host! So many beautiful little touches that made us feel so welcomed. The location was perfect. We travelled with our 3-year-old son and it was an easy walk to so many things we wanted to see. The metro was also just around the corner. The host gave us a whole lot of local information and we loved so many of the food places she suggested (highly recommend Starata pies around the corner)! Easy check-in/check-out process. Also loved the little elevator in the building!

  A fantastic 2 bedroom apartment with large lounge and terrace!! 2 bathrooms host was fantastic loads of lovely little touches !!There was coffee and tea and snacks in fridge plus bottles of cold water on our arrival!! Amazing will book again when Athens is not so hot!!
