Living near Acropolis by Sylvia Staikou at Nikis str overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Living near Acropolis by Sylvia Staikou at Nikis str, I thought it sounded a bit formal and wondered what I was getting into. But you know what? Sometimes the places with the longest names turn out to be the hidden gems, and this 4-star spot absolutely proves that point.
The location on Nikis Street is actually brilliant if you know Athens at all. I mean, you’re literally walking distance from the Acropolis (hence the name), but here’s the thing most people don’t realize – you’re also perfectly positioned between Plaka and the more residential Koukaki neighborhood. This means you get the best of both worlds: easy access to all the tourist stuff when you want it, but you can also duck into local cafes where you’ll hear more Greek than English. The morning walk to grab coffee feels authentically Athenian, not like you’re trapped in a tourist bubble. And honestly, that 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you experience Sylvia’s attention to detail – everything from the check-in process to the way the rooms are set up just feels… thoughtful, I guess?
What really got me was how the place manages to feel both central and peaceful. Athens can be pretty intense with all the traffic and energy, but somehow this spot filters out the chaos while keeping you connected to everything that matters. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying with a well-traveled friend rather than just occupying a generic hotel space. Actually, speaking of noise levels – I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it stays at night, which isn’t always a given when you’re this close to the action. You’ll still hear the city humming in the background (it’s Athens, after all), but it’s more like a gentle soundtrack than the usual urban assault. The whole experience just feels genuine, which is getting harder and harder to find these days. If you’re the type of traveler who values location and authentic local flavor over flashy amenities, this place will probably become your Athens home base.
Hotels near me in Athens offer convenient access to the ancient center, where guests can easily walk to the Acropolis Museum, Ancient Agora, and traditional tavernas.

Reviews of Living near Acropolis by Sylvia Staikou at Nikis str
Wendy
We had a great stay at Sylvia’s and highly recommend it as a base in Athens. The location is fabulous close to the attractions and great food options. Bed was really comfortable and there were coffee and tea with biscuits provided. Everything we needed was provided with the host very available and providing great suggestions to make our stay perfect. Could be improved: We were happy with everything. I note a couple of reviews mentioned small bathroom so I will address this. We are an average sized couple and it worked for us. If you are large you will find the bathroom squeezy.

Sylvia the host is brilliant and made us feel very welcome and made some great recommendations. Kept in touch regularly to make sure everything was ok. Could be improved: Security with an apartment safe would have been more reassuring.

Location was excellent near the Acropolis and plenty of restaurants nearby. Sylvia gave us plenty of suggestions for good food which we experienced. I'm not used to small apartment living so I found it a bit cramped but that just me. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Could be improved: Like a lot of accommodation there is not enough areas for your clothing I.e shelves and hanging space

Lovely spot in perfect location. Sylvia went above and beyond to cater to our every need. Great restaurants all about, and easy walking distance to major attractions. Could be improved: Didn't have more time.

Location, close to transport, Plaka, Acropolis etc

The apartment is strategically located within walking distance to all places of interest with lots of food options all around. So it was easy to get around athen city on foot and even to catch the hop on hop off buses. Sylvia gave quite a lot of good restaurant recommendations which we tried ourselves. Could be improved: The room size was smaller than I expected, especially the toilet, shower cubicle. But for 2 pax, the apartment size is just enough for us to open out luggages.
