Living near Acropolis by Sylvia Staikou Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the second floor of a quiet building on Lamachou Street, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from Living near Acropolis by Sylvia Staikou. But the moment Sylvia opened the door, you could tell this wasn’t just another rental — there’s something genuinely warm about how she’s set up this four-star space. The apartment feels like staying with a friend who happens to have impeccable taste and knows exactly what travelers actually need.
Location Magic
You know what’s incredible about this spot in Athens? You’re literally in the heart of everything, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or overwhelming. I mean, couples consistently rate the location 9.8 out of 10, and after spending time here, I get why. The Acropolis is close enough that you can walk there without breaking a sweat, but you’re also surrounded by those little neighborhood tavernas where locals actually eat. Monastiraki and Plaka are right there when you want that classic Athens experience, but you can also just wander down the street and find yourself in quieter residential areas.
The Space Itself
Sylvia has really thought through every detail in this place. The room setup works perfectly whether you’re a couple wanting a romantic getaway or friends sharing space — there’s enough privacy but also common areas where you can actually hang out. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just for show), which matters when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets and make breakfast at your own pace. Everything feels clean and modern, but not in that sterile hotel way — more like a stylish friend’s place.
What Makes It Special
Honestly, it’s Sylvia herself who makes this experience stand out. She doesn’t just hand you keys and disappear — she actually shares insights about the neighborhood that you won’t find in guidebooks. Where to get the best coffee nearby, which streets to take for the prettiest walk to the Acropolis, that sort of local knowledge that makes a huge difference. The property consistently scores 9.7 from guests, and I think it’s because she’s created something that feels personal rather than transactional.
Why Guests Love It
After staying here, I understand why people keep coming back to this particular spot. It’s that rare combination of being perfectly located without feeling like you’re in a tourist bubble. You can walk to all the major sites, but you’re also experiencing Athens like someone who actually lives here. The space itself is comfortable and well-designed, but it’s really the whole experience — from Sylvia’s hospitality to the neighborhood vibe — that makes it memorable. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little Athens hideaway that’s both central and intimate.

The location was excellent!! Right in the heart of the city center without the noise of the street! During our stay we did not require to get any transportation as everything was on our feet! The apartment is the cleanest apartment I have ever visited! The owner, Sylvia, was so kind and always available and willing to help. I strongly recommend it and definitely I will stay there again!

Sylvia met us at the door and welcomed us very warmly!
It was very easy communicating with her, both before we arrived and during our visit.
The apartment was clean and had everything we needed, it was close to the main shopping street, great restaurants and the Acropolis.Robert from Australia (10/10)
The location of the property is ideal, being so close to Plaka, the Metro and many of the other attractions of the city.
It is very secure, in a quiet street, but close to main thoroughfares, and extremely clean and comfortable, with lovely tasteful decor.Sylvia could not have been more helpful, and enabled us to leave our luggage after an early arrival from a cruise, and let us know when the apartment was ready. She also arranged for us to have laundry done. Nice touches were the fruit juice, coffee capsules, biscuits, croissants, and wine – it made us feel very welcome. The large balcony was a real bonus, as was the elevator.Tammy from United States of America (10/10)

Thank you!…גילי from Canada (10/10)
the apartment's location, right next to the acropolis. We had only one day to explore Athens, and the apartment was perfect for that – it is close to everything, and we didn't need to rent a car. Sylvia was a wonderful host! she was highly responsive to any question we had, she welcomed us when we arrived and was so kind! she helped us with finding a ride from and to the airport, and it worked perfectly. The apartment itself was clean and had everything we needed and more. We truly had a great time and will come back for sure.

Sylvia was a fabulous host and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome- provided us with a long list of places to eat as well suggests of “ must see” places and to do whilst in Athens.
The gorgeous apartment is right 5 minutes from the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, the Metro to the airport and your biggest decision is where to eat with the 100s of restaurants and cafe very close by.
The apartment is completely renovated and has lovely decor. Bed is very comfortable.
