I mean, the name sounds a bit corporate at first – honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I booked it – but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole experience once you walk through those doors.

The design hits this sweet spot between modern and livable that a lot of boutique places completely miss. They’ve got this thing figured out where the common areas feel genuinely comfortable rather than like Instagram backdrops nobody actually uses. The lobby has these deep chairs where you can actually sink in with a coffee and not feel like you’re posing for photos. And speaking of coffee – their morning setup is solid, not just the usual hotel lobby brew that tastes like it’s been sitting there since yesterday. The rooms themselves feel thoughtfully put together too, with enough power outlets in the right places (thank god) and blackout curtains that actually block light. Little things like that tell you someone who travels designed this place.

What really sold me on the experience, though, was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff without being overly formal about it. Check-in was smooth – no unnecessary upselling or long speeches about amenities I’d never use. The front desk folks had solid recommendations when I asked about dinner spots, and I got the sense they’d actually been to the places they were suggesting rather than just reading from a script. The whole vibe feels more like staying at a well-run independent property than some chain hotel where everything’s been focus-grouped to death. Honestly, with that 8.7 rating, I was expecting either perfection or complete disappointment, but MIXT lands somewhere much more comfortable – it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without any unnecessary flourishes.
