Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Athens, but the Modern 2-bedroom apt, 200m from the Acropolis honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. I mean, when you’re literally a two-minute walk from one of the world’s most famous ancient sites, you sort of expect to pay through the nose for a cramped tourist trap with paper-thin walls. Not here, though.

The moment I walked in, I could tell someone actually thought about how real people live and travel. The apartment feels genuinely modern – not that fake “contemporary” stuff you see in hotel chains – with clean lines and furniture that’s both stylish and comfortable enough to sprawl on after a long day of sightseeing. The two bedrooms are properly sized (I’ve been burned by European “bedrooms” that are basically closets), and there’s something really satisfying about having a proper kitchen when you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets. You know what surprised me most? How quiet it stays at night, even with the central location. I was expecting tourist crowds and traffic noise, but the building seems well-insulated, and honestly, the narrow streets in this part of Plaka don’t get the heavy car traffic anyway.

What really sets this place apart – and why I think it’s earned that 9.9 rating – is the little stuff that shows the owner actually gets it. There’s proper coffee equipment (not just instant packets), the WiFi actually works throughout the apartment, and the shower has decent water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled in older European buildings will appreciate. The location is just ridiculous in terms of convenience, but not in that touristy way where you’re surrounded by souvenir shops and overpriced tavernas. You’re tucked into the residential part of the old town, so you get a real sense of neighborhood life. I’d walk out in the morning and see locals heading to work, kids going to school – it felt authentic, you know? Plus, you’re close enough to the good stuff on Adrianou Street and the Plaka squares, but far enough that you can escape the crowds when you need to. The walk to the Acropolis entrance takes maybe three minutes if you’re moving slowly, and there’s this little bakery around the corner that locals actually go to – not just tourists. I ended up stopping there every morning because, well, when you find good tiropita at 7 AM, you don’t mess with success.

  The location is perfect. Very close to Acropolis, but also Plaka area. Gerge is the perfect host, with very iseful suggestions and tips. Parking in a private garage was also a huge advantage for me.

  Excellent location – easy walk to the great sites, and a quick stroll home for a rest at any time. Washing machine & private outdoor patio made laundry simple & fast. ‘Welcome’ wine & cake, folders giving hints and info. on sites, restaurants, etc. MOSTLY – George is fantastic: always available, took us on a walking tour, and made our stay 100% great!

  The property was centrally located. George is an exceptional host and ensures that you feel comfortable during your stay. He also has a detailed list of things to do in the area and recommendations for restaurants. We had a great stay.

  Great location, close to everything. All the major interests are all within walking distance as well as many restaurants. The place is clean and has everything you need. More space than hotel. Would recommend to anyone. George is readily available to assist and has many good recommendations. Thank you George!!
  
  What could be improved: Nothing….maybe a personal preference but the beds were not as comfortable. Even the kids didn’t sleep on it and preferred the couch better. Again, this is a personal preference so it is subjective.
