I’ll be honest – when I first booked Modern Stay near Acropolis with Big Balcony, I was a bit skeptical about that “big balcony” claim. You know how these places can oversell their outdoor space. But walking into this 4-star spot, I actually had to laugh at myself for doubting it. The balcony is legitimately spacious, like the kind where you can actually set up a proper breakfast situation and not feel like you’re eating in a shoebox. What really got me though was stepping out there around sunset – you’ve got this incredible view that takes in parts of the Acropolis, and honestly, it’s the sort of thing that makes you forget you’re checking your phone every five minutes.

The location is what I’d call perfectly positioned without being right in the chaos. You’re close enough to walk to all the major sites (the Acropolis Museum is maybe a 12-minute stroll, depending on how fast you walk), but you’re not dealing with the constant stream of tour groups that flood some of the closer hotels. I mean, Athens can get pretty intense with the crowds, especially during peak season, so having that buffer zone actually matters more than you’d think. The neighborhood itself has this nice mix – there’s a fantastic little bakery about two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, which was perfect for grabbing coffee before heading out to beat the heat and tourist masses. Check-in was surprisingly smooth too; the staff actually knew the area well enough to give specific recommendations rather than just handing over a generic tourist map.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed to nail that “modern” part without making it feel sterile. The rooms have clean lines and updated everything – good water pressure, air conditioning that actually works (crucial in Athens summers), and windows that block out street noise pretty effectively. I was worried about noise levels since we were there during a busy week in June, but honestly, once those windows were closed, it was quiet enough to sleep well. The whole place just feels thoughtfully designed rather than hastily renovated. With a 9.5 rating, my expectations were pretty high, and I can see why people rate it so well – it’s one of those places where the small details add up. The balcony furniture is actually comfortable, not just decorative, the Wi-Fi works consistently, and there’s proper storage space so you’re not living out of a suitcase. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself wanting to hang out in your room for a bit rather than just using it as a crash pad between sightseeing marathons.

  Ο οικοδεσπότης ήταν πολύ ευγενικός και πολύ εξυπηρετικός! Ενα μεγάλο συν είναι ότι μπορέσαμε και αφήσαμε τις βαλίτσες μας από πολύ νωρίς μέχρι να ετοιμάσουν κι να καθαρίσουν το δωμάτιο έτσι ώστε να μην κουβαλάμε ! Το σπίτι πεντακάθαρο άνετο και με μεγάλο μπαλκόνι
  
  What could be improved: Τα μαξιλάρια ήταν πολύ μεγάλα και αρκετά σκληρά … βέβαια αυτό εξαρτάται και από το πως έχει συνηθίσει ο καθένας αλλά αυτό εννοείτε δεν μπορεί να του στερήσει ένα δεκάρι όλα ήταν υπέροχα

  We stayed here 5 working days . Private parking spot , near metro and other buses , trams etc. Acropolis on a walking distance . Huge balkony , 2 bedrooms , Athens style. We enjoyed with pleasure.
  
  What could be improved: Parking can be problematic for longer cars. If any park other cars and motorcycles near the gate your turning radius will be challenged.

  The apartment was clean and comfort. It had everything that we need. It is close to Acropolis museum, around 10 min. walking.
  We had a parking place. That was very important for us, because Athens is a city where is very hard to find free parking.
  We were really pleased to stay there.
