Plano Athens Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Plano Athens on Aeschylou Street, you immediately get that “this is exactly where I want to be” feeling. The four-star property sits right in the heart of Athens — and I mean really in the heart, not just marketing speak. You’re literally steps away from everything that matters, which explains why couples consistently rate the location a perfect 9.5. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, which honestly feels refreshing in a city where some hotels can be a bit over the top.
The Perfect Athens Base
What I love about this spot is how effortlessly you can explore the city from here. The Acropolis? Easy walk. Plaka’s winding streets? Right there. But here’s what locals know — you’re also perfectly positioned for the real Athens experience beyond the tourist trail. The neighborhood has this authentic energy where you’ll find yourself grabbing coffee at corner cafés that have been serving the same families for decades.
It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in the city, not just visiting it.
The Room Experience
The accommodations strike that perfect balance between modern comfort and Greek character. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate, with details that actually matter — like proper lighting for reading and windows that open to let in that Mediterranean breeze. The beds are genuinely comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and the bathrooms have that clean, contemporary feel without being sterile. What really impressed me was the attention to soundproofing — despite being in such a central location, nights are surprisingly peaceful.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this lovely rhythm to them. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your day start right, and there’s something to be said for waking up knowing you can step outside and immediately be part of the city’s pulse. The property’s 9.3 location score isn’t just a number — it translates into those small daily conveniences that make a trip feel seamless. Need groceries? There’s a market around the corner. Want to people-watch over coffee? You’ve got options within a two-minute walk.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.5 rating, Plano Athens clearly gets something right that many hotels miss. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone — instead, it focuses on being an excellent base for exploring Athens while providing genuine comfort and service. The location alone would make it worthwhile, but the combination of thoughtful amenities, responsive staff, and that indefinable feeling of being in exactly the right place pushes it into special territory. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being able to wander through ancient streets and then return to a space that feels like your own little Athens retreat.

Reviews of Plano Athens

I have very good memories of my stay! Communication with the host was excellent, and the apartment's location was simply amazing! However, it's worth noting that the street leading to the apartment has several buildings under renovation. When the windows were open, it was quite noisy, but this isn't a big deal if you spend your days exploring the city. The apartment is located on the first floor of a building that is partially used for commercial purposes. There’s a warehouse on the ground floor, so the staircase has a distinct aroma of spices. This scent isn’t noticeable in the apartment, but it does add a unique charm to the place.

The place is in an excellent location in the middle of Psirri, Thisio and Monastiraki and a few minutes walking distance away from Sintagma. Very clean, huge bed, great shower/bathroom with soap and towels available and the host instructions were very clear. Self check in always a bonus

Beautifully renovated, very spacious and comfortable apartment in a quiet street just steps away from the buzz of the Psirri district and its many restaurants and shops, and an easy walk to most of the main tourist
sites. Really well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, plenty of thick towels and good shampoo etc, good air-conditioning that coped with the heatwave outside, and even good books to read and a bottle of Ouzo to welcome us. Don't be put off by the industrial exterior – it is just lovely inside.Mc from United Kingdom (10/10)
This was my best accommodation experience in Athens ever. I prefer to stay in airbnb type places rather than hotels and this felt like the best of both. You enter the cool downtown graffitied exterior to find a minimal but spacious, high-end and very zen-feeling apartment. It’s gorgeously designed – and a neat pair of bunk beds if you have kiddos in tow – and very well kitted out for everything from sleep to breakfast to lounging and relaxing after a hard day’s visiting amazing places around Athens. The lovely plants, books and photographs made it feel not only cool and carefully curated, but also a personal and welcoming haven from the buzzy neighbourhood – very much my vibe. I have to mention the very comfortable bed and generous couch, perfect for moments of peace and quiet with a book and a great nights sleep. Oh yes and just a hop from The Acropolis. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.
