You know what really surprised me about Quiet, central 2bd Apt, Kolonaki? It actually lives up to that “quiet” part of its name, which honestly I wasn’t expecting given how central it is in one of Athens‘ busiest neighborhoods. I mean, Kolonaki can get pretty hectic during the day with all the shopping and café culture, but this place manages to feel like a proper retreat once you’re inside.

The apartment sits right in the heart of everything — you’re basically a two-minute walk from Skoufa Street where all the good boutiques are, and maybe five minutes from Lycabettus Hill if you’re feeling ambitious about that morning hike. What I love is that you can grab your coffee from one of those tiny traditional kafeneios around the corner (there’s this old guy who makes the best frappé on Tsakalof Street), then come back and actually relax without feeling like you’re camping out in a hotel lobby. The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious too, not like those cramped European apartments where you’re bumping into furniture every time you turn around.

The whole setup feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s place than a typical rental — there’s actual personality in the decor, and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to pick up some amazing tomatoes and feta from the local market. Speaking of which, the Saturday morning market on nearby Xenokratous is something you definitely shouldn’t miss. I actually found myself cooking more than I planned just because the local ingredients were so good, and honestly, it was nice to have a proper dining table instead of eating takeout on a hotel bed. The location means you’re walking distance from both the National Garden when you need some green space and the Benaki Museum when the weather’s not cooperating. Plus — and this might sound silly but it matters — the shower has proper water pressure, which isn’t always a given in older Athens buildings. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that weekend evenings can get a bit lively on the street below, but nothing that decent windows can’t handle, and it dies down pretty reasonably.

  What could be improved: in the second day the electricity went off and we were out of electricity for 5 hours, finally after 5 hours they told us they will not have electricity back so they suggested another property, not in the same neighborhood (further out), not the same size (smaller), and they even told us they will not charge us extra for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we had to pack our stuff in the dark and move…………….
