Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Real City Karagiorgi – the name doesn’t exactly scream luxury, you know? But this 4-star spot completely surprised me in the best possible way. The lobby hits you with this clean, modern vibe that actually feels genuine rather than trying too hard to impress. What really caught my attention was how the staff seemed to know what they were doing without being overly formal about it. Check-in was smooth (I mean, really smooth – none of that awkward waiting around while they figure out their computer system), and the guy at the front desk gave me directions to a nearby bakery that locals actually use, not some tourist trap.

The room itself was one of those pleasant surprises where everything just works. The bed was properly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and the AC actually cooled the room without sounding like a jet engine. You know what I really appreciated? The blackout curtains were thick enough to keep the morning sun out, which honestly saved my vacation since I’m terrible at sleeping in bright rooms. The bathroom was spotless with decent water pressure, though I will say the shower took a minute or two to warm up properly. There’s something about the way they’ve designed the space that feels uncluttered without being sterile – maybe it’s the warm lighting or the fact that there are enough outlets where you actually need them.

What really sets this place apart, though, is its location and the whole experience around it. You’re right in the heart of things without dealing with the chaos that usually comes with central hotels. I could walk to most places I wanted to go, and when I needed a break from exploring, coming back felt like retreating to a calm bubble. The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything they do, they do well. The neighborhood has this authentic feel where you’ll see locals going about their daily business, grabbing coffee at the corner spots, walking their dogs in the evening. Parking was actually manageable (which, let’s be honest, can make or break a city stay), and the area felt safe walking around at night. I’d definitely come back here – sometimes you find these gems that just get the basics right while adding those little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience.

  What could be improved: The concierge of the building that the Appartment is did not know about the existence of our Appartment which was funny as the apt was just outside the lift on the 1st floor and we went back and forth while

  Also , there was a change in the main entrance of the building last minute that required a password or an electronic key and we found out at 5am when returning from
  The club !!!!! We almost stayed homeless for the night but eventually some people came in moments later and we entered the building !
  The landlord was not aware of this but he was also not available at 5am to let us know and find a solution! Eventually we sorted out the matter the next morning with his assistance and he refunded us a small amount of the stay.

  Host communication was excellent and it was easy to find the lockbox, obtain the keys and enter the apartment.
  The apartment was very modern and clean.
  The location was amazing. Extremely central, just a short walk to Ermou and the action.
  Coffee shops everywhere and bakeries open early.
  
  What could be improved: The shower was very small. The building was a bit dusty as there was construction going on.

  The place is totally new and very well furnished. Beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning absolutely perfect. The location of the place is in the middle of the town where you can go everywhere by foot and well connected with public transportation. The room is very, very quite, no noise at all.
  
  What could be improved: Just one defect: there are two blind windows without solar light as the room is at the first floor between very high buildings. This for me it is a big problem.

  super clean!
  very central location. everything is new. comfortable beds, good AC, excellent WiFi. friendly host, lots of cupboard space, elevator, few minutes from Syntagama station, main shoping streets. everything was excellent. self entry with a code box. bottles of mineral water were left for us, that was a very nice touch.
  
  What could be improved: just minor things, the windows are to an inner duct, the kitchen is very basically equipped so wouldn't suit a long stay. we visited for few days so it didn't bother us. slow drainage in the shower. again these are all minor details, the apartment was great

  -Nice place to stay if you wish to have a taste of Athens lively streets in the centre.

  -Ideal for a convenient, safe and comfortable place to stay at the end of a long touring day.
  
  -As expected, central apartments are not the most spacious overall (it is more like a large hotel suite).
  
  -For us, this was plenty of space as we travel light and we enjoyed the “self check in” nature of the experience as well.
  
  -Ps. they have a spacious wardrobe room and you may quite enjoy having a place just for your items if you travel with many belongings.
  
  -Direct trains to the airport and port.
  
  Will stay here again.
