Royal Olympic Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the Royal Olympic Hotel, you immediately understand why this five-star property has such a devoted following among travelers to Athens. The marble lobby feels grand without being intimidating — there’s this old-world elegance that actually works rather than feeling stuffy. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and honestly, the hotel’s classical architecture seems to have a conversation with those ancient columns visible through the windows.

The Heart of Ancient Athens

The location here is absolutely unbeatable, and I’m not just saying that because of the 9.3 location score. You can walk to the Acropolis in about ten minutes, but what I really love is how you’re positioned right between the tourist must-sees and actual Athenian neighborhoods. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.3 for romantic getaways, and you know what, I totally see why. There’s something magical about having coffee on your balcony while looking at ruins that are older than most civilizations. The parking situation is sorted too, which — trust me — is a huge relief in central Athens.

Luxury Accommodations

The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of modern luxury and Greek character. The marble bathrooms are genuinely impressive, and the beds are the kind you actually want to linger in during those hot afternoon hours when exploring becomes less appealing. What struck me most was the attention to detail — the linens feel expensive, the air conditioning works flawlessly (crucial in summer), and the soundproofing is excellent despite being on such a busy street. The views vary depending on which side you’re on, but honestly, even the city-view rooms have their charm.

Dining and Amenities

The rooftop restaurant is where this place really shows off. The Acropolis views during dinner are almost unfairly beautiful, especially as the Parthenon lights up after sunset. The food leans into modern Greek cuisine without being too precious about it — I had some of the best lamb I’ve tasted in Athens here. The service throughout the hotel strikes that sweet spot between attentive and giving you space to breathe. There’s also a well-equipped fitness center and business facilities, though honestly, you’ll probably be too busy exploring to use them much.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to this place isn’t just the prime location or the luxury touches — it’s how the hotel manages to feel both sophisticated and genuinely welcoming. The staff clearly knows Athens inside and out, and they’re happy to share recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about the whole experience, from the elegant common areas to those stunning rooftop dinners. The combination of being steps from ancient wonders while enjoying modern luxury creates this unique Athens experience that’s hard to replicate elsewhere in the city.

Athens‘s apartments offer spacious accommodations with classical charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant Greek capital.
