First Impressions
When I first stepped into Studio penthouse near Acropolis Museum by GHH, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from what sounded like a pretty generic name. But you know what? This four-star property completely surprised me. The penthouse setup gives you this immediate sense of space that’s rare in Athens, and the natural light streaming through those large windows — well, it sets the tone for everything else you’ll experience here.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying on Dimitrakopoulou Street — you’re literally in the sweet spot that most tourists never figure out. I mean, you can walk to the Acropolis Museum in about three minutes (I timed it), but you’re also surrounded by these little tavernas and coffee shops that locals actually use. The neighborhood has this authentic Athens vibe without the tourist trap pricing, and honestly, that’s getting harder to find these days. Plus, couples seem to get it — they’ve rated the location 9.7, which makes total sense when you’re wandering these tree-lined streets at sunset.
The Space Itself
The studio layout works really well, actually. There’s a proper kitchen setup that lets you grab fresh ingredients from the nearby market and cook something simple — which I definitely recommend doing at least once. The room feels more like a modern Athens apartment than a hotel space, with thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The penthouse positioning means you get these glimpses of the city that change throughout the day, and the evening light filtering in creates this warm atmosphere that makes you want to just settle in with a glass of wine.
What Makes It Work
I think what struck me most was how this place manages to feel both central and peaceful. You’re close enough to walk to major sites — the Acropolis, Plaka, even down to Monastiraki — but the building itself sits on a quieter stretch where you can actually sleep without earplugs. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience how everything just… works. The WiFi is solid, the air conditioning keeps up with Athens summers, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Athens has plenty of places to stay, but this spot hits that perfect balance between location and value that’s honestly hard to find. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting this elevated experience that feels special without being pretentious. The fact that it consistently scores so well with couples tells you something — there’s a romantic quality to watching the city wake up from those penthouse windows, and the neighborhood gives you plenty of intimate spots to discover together. If you want to feel like you’re living in Athens rather than just visiting it, this is the kind of place that delivers on that promise.

The location is very central with lots of restaurants to choose from. It is also a short walk from the Acropolis. The unit is neat, spacious, and has everything you need. There are also storage lockers just outside if you need to store your luggage upon checking out.

Very well located in closed proximity to tourist places but at the same time quiet during the night. I especially appreciated the large terrace where you can enjoy a morning coffee. There are very good restaurants and bars in walking distance.

top floor, balcony areas, washer/stove/oven/microwave work well, central location, great room lighting and natural light. No problems with the keys or shower doors as other guests had previously complained. Helpful check-in instructions and easy self-check-in with a lockbox. Early check-in was allowed. Modern, good-quality studio penhouse.

the apartment was super clean and it was in really good neighbourhood. Nice big patio up high on the 5th floor. It even had a washer machine. Our hosts even kept in touch to make sure we made it in and or had any questions. You are a block or so from the metro, and walking distance to lots of fine local restaurants and the Acropolis. Plenty of stores all around for groceries, takeout. But at the same time quiet. A place where the locals are, so it was much cheaper to eat out.
