Being right in the city center means you’re walking distance from pretty much everything that matters. I could stroll to Monastiraki in about ten minutes – and trust me, I timed it because I’m obsessive like that – and the metro connections are so close you’ll hear the rumble if you’re a light sleeper (though honestly, it’s more comforting than annoying). The neighborhood has this great energy where you’ve got tourists mixing with locals heading to work, and the coffee shops nearby serve proper Greek coffee, not the watered-down stuff you sometimes get in hotel areas. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central – the building seems to buffer the street noise pretty well. The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places can’t tell you where to find a decent gyros at 11 PM. The 8.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Athens, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a few pleasant surprises thrown in.
