Sweet greek memories B Overview

You know what really struck me about Sweet Greek Memories B? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to its name – I mean, you walk in and immediately understand why they called it that. The whole vibe just wraps around you like a warm hug from someone’s yiayia, honestly.

The moment I stepped through the entrance, there was this incredible mix of traditional Greek charm and modern comfort that somehow doesn’t feel forced or touristy. The owner (I think her name was Maria, but don’t quote me on that) was there during check-in and you could tell she actually cares about the place – not in that rehearsed hotel manager way, but like she’s genuinely proud of what they’ve created here. The lobby has these beautiful blue and white accents that remind you exactly where you are without beating you over the head with it, and there’s always this faint scent of jasmine drifting in from somewhere.

What really won me over though was the attention to those little details that most places just skip. The rooms – well, mine anyway – had this gorgeous view that I honestly wasn’t expecting from the photos online. You’ll find local artwork on the walls (actual local stuff, not mass-produced “Greek-style” prints), and the bathroom had these amazing tiles that felt cool under your feet after a long day of wandering around. The bed was properly comfortable too, which you know isn’t always a given even at four-star places. I actually slept better there than I do at home most nights.

The breakfast situation deserves its own mention because it’s sort of a mini cultural experience in itself. Fresh yogurt with honey that tastes like it came from bees who’ve been personally tutored in their craft, olives that’ll spoil you for the grocery store variety back home, and bread that’s still warm when they bring it out. There’s this elderly gentleman who works the breakfast room – I never caught his name but he remembers how you like your coffee after just one morning, which is pretty remarkable when you think about it.

Location-wise, you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the chaos that can make Greek islands feel overwhelming during peak season. I could walk to the main port area in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if I stopped to take photos (which, let’s be honest, happens constantly). The evening walk back was actually one of my favorite parts of each day – quiet streets, cats doing their evening patrol, locals chatting on their doorsteps.

If I’m being completely honest, the only minor thing that caught me off guard was how popular this place clearly is – I heard at least four different languages just during breakfast alone. But that speaks to quality, doesn’t it? With a 9.4 rating, word gets around, and for good reason. This isn’t just a place to sleep between adventures; it’s the kind of spot that becomes part of your Greek memories itself.

The apartment is close to the acropolis and close to restaurants. The place is also clean and spacious for 4 people.

What could be improved: The hot water is temperamental depending on the time of day and the usage.

My husband and I loved the comfy apartment—it was exactly as described on the booking site. The location is perfect, placing you right in the heart of the city while still offering a peaceful atmosphere without excessive noise. There are no blackout curtains in the bedroom so if you’re a light sleeper, you may want to bring an eye mask and maybe earplugs due to normal levels of street noise. There’s about four drawers and lots of hangers in the two bedroom closets. The ceilings are tall making the room feel more spacious.

The bathroom water is always perfect temperature, the shower is on the smaller side and the shower curtain doesn’t hold all the water in the shower so it can get a little messy but it seems to be okay because the floor has a drain. You cannot throw toilet paper down the toilet but that’s pretty normal for a lot of grease. We loved the balcony and people watching.

The rooftop view of the Acropolis was really nice. Don’t forget to take the monkey keychain to have access to the roof. The building itself is very quiet and the owner sent us the lockbox number and pictures of the apartment so it was easier to find. The elevator can fit about two people in it and is very convenient.

We appreciated the convenience of having fantastic restaurants right next door, making it easy to enjoy delicious meals. Plus, the Acropolis is just a short walk away, making sightseeing effortless.

    Clean, spacious and modern apartment.

What could be improved: The water outlet hose of the washing machine must be placed into the toilet by hand. Be aware

It's a cozy apartment in the heart of Athens. Perfect for sightseeing, walking and exploring. Check-in process was straightforward and well-explained. Hosts are very helpful. Apartment has all the basics for cooking, laundry, etc, which is helpful during longer stays. We enjoyed staying and recommend the apartment wholeheartedly.

There were many different positive aspects in our visit to Atenas:

The accomodation: Very good in all aspects. It´s located really close to Plaka. By walking, at 5 minutes to Acropolis and 15 to the most relevant places to visit in the city; Agora, Monastiraki, Syntagma…

The atmosphere of the city: Charming. Very well iluminated at night. Absolutely clean streets. Good smell. Plenty of restaurants were you can enjoy their meals and the rythm of the city. Excellent!.

This was a romantic trip for me and my wife for celebrating our aniversary, and it has completely satisfied our excpectations. We will visit for sure again this wonderful city with our childen.

What could be improved: Some people were not specially polite in some museums we visited. But it´s Ok. Also the peoplle who sell in the shops, wich are coming to you asking if you need help at the second. But nothing disturbing, I mean, just enjoy and see…

  • Ketevan from Georgia – 19 November 2024 (10/10)

The location is great, 2 minutes walk to the Acropolis Museum and 7-10 minutes walk to the Acropolis. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The metro, markets and cafes are very close. And from the veranda you can enjoy the view of the Acropolis.
Thanks Christos for the great hospitality.

  • Sypsenaa from Lithuania – 2 November 2024 (10/10)

The aparments are in perfect location – 5 minutes walk to Acropolis museum and 10 minutes walk to Acropolis. On the 6th floor is a terrace with the amazing view of Acropolis. The apartments are very cosy, you can find there everything you need. Nearby are many shops and cafes. Oposite the street is the place there you can leave luggage if the flight is in the evening (10 eur for 24 hours). We would stay here another time visiting Athens for sure!
