The blue house Athens Overview
You know what struck me first about The blue house Athens? It actually lives up to its name – there’s this gorgeous blue facade that somehow manages to feel both traditional and fresh at the same time. I mean, you see a lot of places with color names that end up being disappointingly beige, but not this one.
The whole vibe here is honestly refreshing for a 4-star spot. It’s got that boutique feel without trying too hard, if that makes sense. The rooms have character – I’m talking original architectural details mixed with modern touches that don’t feel forced. My room had these beautiful high ceilings and the kind of windows that actually open (thank god, because you want that Athens evening breeze). The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s the kind of place where small details matter. Like, the bathroom amenities were surprisingly good quality, and someone clearly thought about lighting because you’re not squinting in harsh fluorescents or fumbling around in romantic darkness.
What I really appreciated was how it feels authentically Athenian rather than generic European hotel. The staff – well, they’re genuinely helpful without that over-rehearsed hospitality thing some places do. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy gave me actual neighborhood spots, not just the tourist traps. Speaking of the neighborhood, you’re positioned really well here. It’s residential enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise (honestly, this matters so much in Athens), but close enough to the action that you’re not spending half your vacation budget on taxis. I could walk to several Metro stops, which saved me constantly trying to flag down cabs in the heat.
The common areas have this lived-in elegance – think comfortable seating where you’d actually want to hang out with a book, not just pose for Instagram. There’s something about the way morning light hits the lobby that made me linger over coffee longer than I usually would. Breakfast was solid without being fancy – fresh local ingredients, good bread, proper coffee. Nothing revolutionary, but executed well, which honestly beats elaborate buffets with mediocre everything.
If I’m being completely honest, it’s not perfect – the elevator is a bit slow, and depending on your room, street-facing windows can get some early morning delivery truck action. But these are minor things in the grand scheme. The blue house Athens gets the balance right between comfort and character, between being distinctly Greek and internationally comfortable. It’s the kind of place where you settle in quickly and actually feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality rather than just sleeping between sightseeing sessions.
Athens’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with classical charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant Greek capital.

Location and the comfort.
What could be improved: N/AAleksandra from Poland – 25 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location, Acropolis was located about 15 minute walk away. There was a great supermarket 3 minute walk away. The apartment was beautiful and spacious.
Rosina from Spain – 14 May 2025 (9/10)
Great locations and accommodation for a good price
What could be improved: Rooms are connected by a door and the guests next door decided to smoke so all the smoke came into the room. The policy is not smoking so it was not the apartments fault, but it was the only detail that was negative.Ami2 from France – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
Quietness, proximity of Filoppapou, ac. Excellent management.
What could be improved: A soft light bed would be nice 🙂Molly from United Kingdom – 29 April 2025 (8/10)
The apartment had everything we needed. It was a bit smaller than we thought it was going to be, but that wasn't an issue at all. The bed was comfy, the pillows were comfy. They provided towels and toiletries. The kitchen was done nicely. The location is good with nice local restaurants nearby. It's an easy metro ride to Monastiraki and other popular places. Maria was wonderful and welcoming over WhatsApp.
What could be improved: The railing wasn't sturdy / fixed properly on the way up to the apartment. So it's not something you can really lean / rely on. And after a long day of walking around Athens, walking up the slight hill to the apartment can be a bit tiring. I'm not as mobile as other people, so the Google Maps "6 min" walk from the station was more like 20 minutes.Laura from Ireland – 23 April 2025 (9/10)
Everything was perfect! Thank you so much

Wonderful little studio close to subway, clean and cute. I would visit again.
What could be improved: The hot water takes 20-30 minutes to heat up and you have to turn it on to begin the process, so you can’t go home for a quick shower and go back out just like you can’t hop in the shower and go to bed – you have to wait. Not that much of a problem really and it wouldn’t stop me from going back, adding this detail so you know how to plan around it.Dmitrii from Israel – 15 March 2025 (9/10)
I really enjoyed my stay – everything was perfect. The self-check-in process was smooth, the place was spotless, and everything worked perfectly. The room had all the essentials, including an iron and a hairdryer. There are several good eateries nearby, along with a tobacco shop and a supermarket. Since it's not in a tourist-heavy area, there’s no noise outside, so you can keep the window open without any issues. Also like to mention that the room looks even better and tidier in person than in the photos.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, the shower holder was broken and kept falling off the wall. It didn’t affect my comfort, but it's worth noting 🙁Maria-mihaela from Romania – 11 March 2025 (9/10)
Amazing location! Very central and we were very close to everything we wanted to visit. The place also has some amazing restaurants very close by! It was clean and quiet and the instructions on how to get the key and how to reach the place were very clear. 🙂 And they had a very comfy bed! The host was also very responsive and answered almost immediately when we had questions! Will book again!
Mikołaj from Poland – 21 February 2025 (9/10)
Great location, great communication with the owners, overall very pleasant stay
What could be improved: Bathroom was a little moldy and beds were incredibly soft.
