THE NEW Diamont of Athens Overview

You know what? THE NEW Diamont of Athens caught me completely off guard – and I mean that in the best possible way. I’ll be honest, the name made me expect something a bit flashy or trying too hard, but walking into the lobby, there’s this really nice balance between modern comfort and that understated Greek elegance you don’t always find in four-star places these days.

The thing that actually impressed me most wasn’t the obvious stuff – though the rooms are genuinely well-appointed with those little touches that make you feel like someone thought about your stay. It was more the way the staff seemed to know Athens like locals do, not just the tourist spots. When I asked about getting to some of the neighborhoods off the beaten path, they didn’t just hand me a generic map. They actually sketched out routes and mentioned which metro stops to avoid during rush hour (trust me, this matters more than you’d think). The concierge even told me about this little taverna where locals go after work – the kind of place you’d walk past three times without noticing, but the souvlaki is incredible.

What really sold me on the place, honestly, was how it handled the small stuff that can make or break a trip. The AC actually works properly – not something you can take for granted in Athens during summer. The soundproofing is solid too; you’re not going to be lying awake listening to every conversation from the hallway or street noise filtering up. And speaking of practical things, they’ve got this down-to-earth approach to breakfast that I appreciated – nothing overly fancy, but the coffee is strong (the way Greeks do it), the pastries are clearly local, and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying for several days. The dining area gets pretty good natural light in the mornings, which sounds minor but honestly makes starting your day feel less rushed.

I should mention – and this is important if you’re planning to explore beyond the Acropolis and Plaka – the location puts you in a good spot for getting around the city without feeling like you’re stuck in tourist central. You can walk to some really interesting neighborhoods, and the metro connections are straightforward enough that you won’t spend half your vacation figuring out transportation. The 8.9 rating makes sense once you’ve been there; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Athens, but it gets the fundamentals right and then adds those thoughtful details that show someone cares about the guest experience. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a place that feels like a good base for actually experiencing the city, rather than somewhere you’ll spend all your time hiding from it.

Hotel in Athens booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural and theatrical performances.

Reviews of THE NEW Diamont of Athens

  • Yavuz from Turkey (9/10)

The apartment is newly constructed. The flat is very new and clean. The interior and the building have a pleasant scent. The air conditioners are new and work well. Most of the furniture is almost brand new. The rooms and the living room are spacious and functional. The flat is on the first floor and has a balcony. The area is as safe as it gets for Athens. It is very close to the Sygrou Fix metro station, from where you can reach all the city's tourist spots without staying under the sun. The Acropolis is within walking distance. There is a chain supermarket nearby for shopping. The neighborhood is generally quiet. There is a private parking lot right across the building. You can always find a parking spot on the streets. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave. There is a washing machine and detergent available. The beds are very comfortable (second gold medal). The TV is new but requires a Netflix subscription. There are electric shutters, so you can have complete darkness if you wish to sleep. The fridge is large and had cold water and white wine inside. There was a robot vacuum cleaner for cleaning the floors. One of the rooms has an extra shower. The hot water and water pressure in the bathroom were excellent. The drainage also worked well. There is a bidet in the toilet, which was the most important feature for me (first gold medal). The wifi speed and signal force was perfect. The room keys are in a coded box at the building entrance. You receive the code before you arrive, so you can take the keys and enter the room without waiting for the host or needing to arrive at a specific time. I wrote the cons to inform both potential guests and the host. If I come to Athens again, I would like to stay here because this place gives me a sense of comfort.
