I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Thissio View Design Apartment, I was expecting something pretty standard. You know how these “design” places can be hit or miss, right? But walking into this spot actually made me stop in my tracks. The views toward the Acropolis are absolutely stunning, and I mean that in the most non-touristy way possible. You’re right there in Thissio, which is honestly one of my favorite neighborhoods in Athens because it’s got this perfect balance – close enough to all the ancient sites that you can walk everywhere, but far enough from the chaos of Plaka that you can actually breathe.

What really got me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail that modern aesthetic without making it feel cold or sterile. The apartment has these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with light, and the design details are spot-on – I’m talking about the kind of thoughtful touches that make you think someone actually lives here, not just decorated it for Instagram. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped too, which matters if you’re like me and prefer grabbing fresh ingredients from the local markets rather than eating out every single meal. Speaking of which, there’s this fantastic little bakery just around the corner that the locals hit up for their morning coffee – you’ll smell the fresh bread before you even see the place.

The location is what really sells it for me though. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Ancient Agora, and honestly, being able to just wander over there in the early morning before the tour groups arrive is worth the stay alone. The metro station is close enough to be convenient but not so close that you hear trains all night – and trust me, that balance is harder to find than you’d think in Athens. I stayed here during shoulder season and the whole area had this lovely, lived-in feeling where you’d see the same shopkeepers every day and actually start to feel like part of the neighborhood. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s one of those places where every detail just works, from the incredibly smooth check-in process to the way they’ve thought about storage space (which, let’s face it, most apartments completely botch). The only minor thing I’d mention is that the street can get a bit lively on weekend evenings, but honestly, that’s Athens for you, and the double-glazed windows do their job pretty well.
