What I really appreciated was how well-equipped everything was – the kitchen actually has decent knives, the shower has proper water pressure, and the air conditioning works without sounding like a helicopter landing. Small things, but they matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night. The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious, not those European “cozy” situations where you’re bumping into walls. Parking can be a bit of an adventure in this area (well, parking in Athens is always an adventure), but there’s usually something within a few blocks if you’re patient. The neighborhood gets quieter after dinner, which means you can actually sleep with the windows open and catch those summer breezes – though you’ll still get the occasional late-night conversation drifting up from the street below, which is just part of the Athens charm.

You’re close enough to walk to most of the major sites without feeling like you’re in the thick of tourist central, and there’s a solid taverna about three blocks down that locals actually eat at (you’ll know it by the older guys playing backgammon outside). Check-in was smooth, and they left some basics in the fridge, which saved me a late-night grocery hunt. If I’m being completely honest, the WiFi could be stronger in the back bedroom, and the street-facing windows let in some morning light even with the curtains drawn – but these are pretty minor complaints for a place that gets so much else right.
