9.4 Wonderful

Adrianou 150 overview

When I first stumbled upon Adrianou 150, I’ll be honest – the name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but don’t let that fool you. This 4-star gem sits right in the heart of Athens‘ ancient neighborhood, and I mean literally ancient. You’re basically sleeping where people have been living for thousands of years, which is pretty wild when you think about it.

The thing that struck me most about this place wasn’t just the stellar 9.4 rating (though that definitely caught my attention), it was how the staff actually seemed to care about making your stay memorable. You know how some hotels feel like they’re just processing you through? Not here. The front desk guy – I think his name was Dimitris – spent like twenty minutes drawing out a walking route to the best souvlaki place in Plaka on the back of a tourist map. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t get from a guidebook, and honestly, it made all the difference.

The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully modern – they’ve clearly been renovated recently but they didn’t go overboard trying to be trendy. Clean lines, comfortable beds (seriously, I slept better here than I do at home), and the AC actually works, which anyone who’s been to Athens in July will tell you is not a given. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and the water pressure is surprisingly good for this part of the city. One small thing that I really appreciated – they have these heavy curtains that actually block out the morning light, so you can sleep in even when the sun’s blazing at 6 AM.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned to explore on foot. The Acropolis is close enough that you can pop over there early in the morning before the crowds hit (trust me on this one), and you’re right in the thick of the old town’s winding streets. I actually got lost three times just trying to find a decent coffee shop, but that’s part of the charm – every wrong turn leads to some tiny taverna or antique shop you never would have found otherwise. The area does get busy in the evenings when all the restaurants fill up, but it’s more lively than annoying. If you’re a light sleeper though, maybe pack some earplugs – Athens doesn’t really do quiet.

What really sets Adrianou 150 apart is this feeling that you’re staying somewhere that gets it. They understand that travelers want to experience the real Athens, not some sanitized hotel version of it. The building itself has character – old stone mixed with modern touches – and there’s this lovely little courtyard area where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed. I ended up chatting with other guests there most mornings, which rarely happens at bigger chain hotels.

If you’re looking for a place that balances authentic local flavor with actual comfort (and a rating that high doesn’t lie), this is your spot. Just remember to bring comfortable walking shoes – you’ll be doing a lot of exploring from here, and trust me, it’s all worth it.

Excellent customer service. Very helpful suggesting a taxi to the airport. Wonderful place to stay. Perfect location to everything. Could be improved: Perfect location to hop back to have a nap and recover from jetlag between sightseeing.

The apartment was in beautiful Plaka above one of the cobbled streets where there were lots of lovely shops and restaurants. The location was perfect and only a short walk from the main bus routes, the Acropolis and other places of interest. The apartment was modern, clean, comfortable and so well equipped. We loved the little balcony where you could sit and people watch. Check in was easy and the host sent very detailed instructions before we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Adrianou 150 and would definitely stay again. Thank you. Could be improved: The only small inconvenience was the hot water. The instruction book did tell you that you had to press a button to warm it up and it took 20 minutes. However the warm water didn't last long so after one person had showered the next ended up having a cold shower!! We staggered showering after that so it wasn't a problem. Just to be aware if you stay here.

The location was perfect, It was in the middle of everything. Even though it is on a busy street, the doors kept the sound out. It was spacious for the middle of Athens. They accommodated us with an early checkin. WiFi was good. Begum was very helpful. Could be improved: Nothing

Extraordinary location. Very well maintained property. Could be improved: Very poorly maintained apartment complex. No light at night to take the steps and even in the corridor. On the last day even the remote control of the main door of the complex was not working

The location was great if you want to be in the middle of the main tourist district. LOTS of people, shopping and restaurants just out the door. Short walk to the Acropolis which was nice. The owner was very good at communication and answering any questions that we had. Could be improved: The only negative would be that the top of the building with the view was recently banned from guests unless the owner was present. I was looking forward to evening views of the Acropolis with a glass of wine. Oh well.

Location, size spacious, 2 br and 2 bathrooms. Only 3 of us. Quiet and cool. It’s in the heart/hub of Plaka. Short walk anywhere. We never had a problem with hot water. Have to adjust expectations for Europe. Reduce flow a little and keep resetting heater. Not that many stairs. Would recommend and stay there again. Could be improved: There were a couple of minor items brought to the hosts attention, not sure if any thing done on them after we left
