Alexander’s Penthouse overview
You know, when I first walked into Alexander’s Penthouse, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from a 4-star place with that kind of name – honestly, “penthouse” can mean a lot of different things depending on where you are. But this place actually delivers on the promise, and I mean that in the best way possible. The moment you step off the elevator, there’s this immediate sense that you’re somewhere special, not just another cookie-cutter hotel room. The ceilings are higher than you’d expect, and the windows – well, let’s just say whoever designed this place understood that natural light makes all the difference. I spent way too much time just standing there looking out, which probably says something about both the view and how rarely I get to stay somewhere this nice.
What really got me, though, was how they’ve managed to make it feel like an actual home rather than a hotel that’s trying too hard to impress. The furniture has that lived-in quality – not worn out, but comfortable in a way that makes you want to actually use it instead of just admiring it. I’m talking about chairs you can sink into with a book, a dining table that’s the right height for your laptop, that sort of thing. The kitchen setup is surprisingly functional too, which matters more than you might think when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. I mean, sometimes you just want to make coffee without calling room service or wandering around looking for a decent café at 6 AM. The staff seems to get this – they’re helpful without being hovering, professional but not stuffy, and they actually seem to know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the tourist traps.
I’ll be honest, with an 8.3 rating, I was expecting maybe some rough edges or little quirks that might explain why it’s not quite at the 9+ level, but honestly? I think it’s more about location or maybe just that it’s not trying to be everything to everyone. This isn’t the kind of place where you’re going to find a massive spa or five different restaurants – it’s more focused on doing the penthouse experience really well. The attention to detail shows up in unexpected places, like the way the lighting actually works for reading (you’d be surprised how many fancy places get this wrong), or how the shower has proper water pressure and doesn’t require a engineering degree to operate. Sometimes the simple stuff matters most, especially when you’re dealing with the stress of travel. If you’re looking for something that feels more like staying in a really nice apartment than a traditional hotel, and you appreciate when places focus on quality over trying to impress you with unnecessary bells and whistles, this is definitely worth considering.

location is everything , and the views from the huge balcony, were exceptional ( we made the most of the balcony during our stays imply because of the views ) the beds were comfortable , and the rooms were spacious. we even had a welcome pack on arrival which included a bottle of wine . it was so close to everywhere , everything was within walking distance . even a Spar shop right across the road, which came in very handy . the pizza shop next door is great, and very handy to grab a single slice 😋 Could be improved: only minor faults, if I'm being pedantic. the apartment is "tired" it needs a bit of a freshen up . paint peeling on the bathroom ceiling . the bath and shower really need updating ( but they work and the water pressure is excellent) there was a piece of plaster falling off the bedroom wall approx 20cms in length , and the beautiful bedroom chair was stained . but I suppose all this is reflected in the price , and it did not detract from our stay. do not let these minor faults deter you from staying, as we had a fabulous stay here

Fabulous location, amazing views, great apartment and easy communication. Could be improved: Bath/shower could do with updating but wouldn't stop us staying again due to the location/view.

Great location, however, very dusty and noisy due to being next to main road. Traffic starts from 6/7 hrs in the morning, couldn’t keep window open.

Location is amazing. View of the Acropolis is unique and special. The bedrooms were a nice size. Good kitchen. Could be improved: As mentioned in other reviews, the bathroom was tired. Other reviewers photos show the bathroom cupboards and doorframe, in need of attention. The shower screen has part missing which means the floor gets wet. More toilet rolls would have been good.

The penthouse was as pictured and described. The facilities were excellent and even though we were above a busy street, there was no disturbance. Great place and easy to deal with. The host was very helpful. Could be improved: Everything was fine.

Location and view Could be improved: The bathroom needs improvement. The shower door was smaller than the shower
