I’ll be honest – when I first booked Alimos – Sea View Apartment, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a 4-star place in this part of Athens. But you know what? This spot absolutely surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about Alimos is that it’s sort of perfectly positioned between the chaos of central Athens and the laid-back beach vibe you’re probably craving. I mean, you’re literally minutes from some decent stretches of sand, but you’re not stuck in some touristy resort bubble either. The apartment itself – and I’m talking about waking up to actual sea views here, not some sliver of blue you need to crane your neck to see – feels like someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile hotel room. The morning light coming through those big windows is honestly something else, especially when you’re having your coffee and watching the boats drift around the marina. There’s this gentle sound of water lapping that you notice once the city starts to wake up, but early mornings are beautifully quiet.

What really got me was how the owners actually seem to care about the details that matter when you’re traveling. The kitchen is properly equipped (I’m talking real knives, not those useless hotel butter spreaders), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the air conditioning works without sounding like a helicopter landing on the roof. The bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that actually has decent pressure – small thing, but you know how disappointing hotel showers can be. Parking was surprisingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Athens will appreciate. The whole building feels well-maintained without being fussy about it, if that makes sense.

I stayed during what locals told me was a pretty busy period, but the area never felt overwhelming. There’s this great little taverna about a ten-minute walk away where the owner’s wife makes incredible dolmades – the kind of place you’d never find unless someone pointed you toward it. The beach access is genuinely easy, and while the Athenian coast isn’t exactly the Greek islands, it’s perfect for an evening swim or just sitting with a drink while the sun sets. Getting back into the city center takes maybe 30 minutes on the tram, though I found myself wanting to stay put more often than I expected. That 9.1 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there – it’s the kind of place that handles the basics flawlessly while giving you those little moments that make a trip memorable. Honestly, it felt less like staying at a rental and more like borrowing a friend’s apartment, except everything actually works and someone else handles the cleaning.

  Lovely property opposite the beach with excellent cheap transport direct into Athens centre ,restaurants near by and easy access to other riviera beaches along the coast . Host was very helpful and resounded swiftly to any questions .

  Everything was according the descriptions, very clean and comfortable, property absolutely meet our expectations.

  The location is priceless. 3-4 mins walk to the tram station and the various bus stops. Kalamaki beach is within 5 mins walking distance.
  
  The apartment had a good collection of bath and beach towels that came in very handy for our family of two adults and two young children. The apartment also had two beach umbrellas that must have saved us 15-20 euros per day by not having to rent a sunbed at the beach.
  
  The apartment balcony has a fantastic view of the sea and was our favourite place for morning tea and coffee.
  
  The surrounding area has a good collection of restaurants that are not too busy during early evening (7-8 pm) if you like peace and quiet at dinner time. These restaurants get very lively with music and customers as the evening progresses, especially during weekends.
  
  What could be improved: The traffic noise can be a bit loud at times but is not much of an issue when the balcony door is closed.

  Was very clean and lovely place to stay at, you can find anything you need for daily use, very thoughtful and prepared . Location is great next to the beach. Want to mention that the host was very nice and always responded, also make even changes of the days after confirmation. Very appreciated the gesture, good luck with everything !

  Undoubtedly it’s the most beautiful experience of mine for staying during traveling.

  The location is so nice. Not only for the beach, but so many good restaurants around the apartment can be reached only by walking.

  Lovely apartment, photos didn't do it justice at all. Clean throughout & anything you'd need is already there, so it was nice to just turn up & not worry about anything. Air con was fitted in both bedrooms & the lounge, which was an absolute godsend!
  
  My daughter & I shared the twin room, which was a really nice size, clean & more importantly the beds were really comfortable, which is a first for me on a stay away from home!
  
  Apartment was easy to find thanks to the instructions given in the welcome pack & well located for transport links. The beach was a 5 minute walk across the road & there was a lovely selection of places to eat out & local food stores to stock up!
  
  What could be improved: The only thing that lets this apartment down is the noise pollution from the busy traffic out the front. It never let up even throughout the night & it wasn't something you could get used to. By the end of the week I was desperate for some peace & quiet, I've never experienced anything like it before. The sad thing is, had we known, we more than likely would have looked elsewhere to stay.
