The rooms themselves strike this nice balance between modern comfort and Greek character. Nothing too fancy, but everything works – strong water pressure (crucial after walking around Athens all day), air conditioning that actually cools the room, and windows that open if you want to hear the city sounds. Speaking of sounds, it gets lively in the evenings – you’re in Athens, after all – but it settles down by around midnight most nights. The beds are genuinely comfortable, which… look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places where “4-star” apparently doesn’t include decent mattresses, so I don’t take this for granted.
