You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places over the years, but Auntie’s Home really caught me off guard in the best possible way. The name sounds almost too cozy to be real, but honestly – that’s exactly what this place delivers. It’s one of those rare finds where the 4-star rating feels modest because the experience punches way above its weight class.

Walking in, you immediately get why they’re sitting at a 9.7 rating. I mean, that’s not easy to achieve. The whole vibe feels like stepping into a relative’s beautifully renovated house – assuming your relative has impeccable taste and actually knows how to make guests feel welcome. The lobby has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake, with worn leather chairs that are actually comfortable (not just Instagram-worthy) and books scattered around that people clearly read, not just for decoration. The check-in was refreshingly human too – the staff remembered my name without checking their notes three times, which seems small but makes such a difference when you’re tired from traveling.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed the details that matter. The rooms have proper blackout curtains – like, actually dark when you need to sleep in. The WiFi works everywhere, including that dead zone most hotels have near the bathroom. And the walls are thick enough that you’re not listening to your neighbor’s phone calls all night. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period, but the hallways stayed quiet after 10 PM. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive; they left my charger exactly where I had it tangled on the nightstand, just worked around it. There’s something to be said for a place that feels residential but runs with hotel-level efficiency. Even the morning coffee situation is thoughtful – not just some sad pod machine, but actually decent beans and a setup that doesn’t make you feel like you’re compromising. Look, I’m not saying it’s perfect (the elevator is a bit slow, and parking took me a few minutes to figure out), but those are minor things when everything else clicks this well. If you want a place that feels like a home base rather than just somewhere to crash, this is your spot.

  Sparkling clean, a perfect set up for two couples traveling together, walking distance to everything we needed. The view of the Acropolis from the balcony and the upper patio was as beautiful as any of the finest rooftop restaurants.

  August was HOT, but this apartment has great A/C and the covered patio was a super place to chill with a glass of wine and play card games. Perfect space for two couples and gracious place to host dinner for three more people.

  Really amazing and spacious apartment! The outside space was a great bonus overlooking a lovely square with lots of restaurants nearby.

  Everything – for a self catering apartment it was full of all the things that you need, down to the small details. The location was superb.

  The apartment was in an excellent location, minutes from the Monastiraki station which has a direct line to the airport and is in the Plaka centre. The apartment had stunning views and we loved the huge balcony. We were pleasantly surprised to have a second toilet and basin upstairs And we were delighted with how accommodating Katerina was with check in and check out times

  The host, Katrina, was very helpful in getting us transfers from the airport to the property, then to the port on our departure. She gave us detailed information about how to access the property, Wi-Fi info, and had helpful info on the table for our us. The property is very well kept and clean! The location is very close to the Acropolis and major sites, so we were able to walk to the various sites.
