What strikes you immediately is how they’ve managed to balance that boutique hotel feel with the reliability you want from a solid 4-star place. The lobby has this sort of industrial-chic thing going on (I know, I know, everyone’s doing that now), but they actually pull it off without feeling like they’re trying too hard. The check-in was refreshingly smooth – none of that awkward hovering while they figure out their system. You know what I mean? The staff genuinely seemed to know what they were doing, which honestly isn’t always a given these days.

The rooms are where this place really wins you over, though. They’ve got this clean, modern aesthetic that doesn’t scream “generic hotel room.” The beds are actually comfortable – and I’m pretty picky about that stuff. The bathroom situation is solid too, with decent water pressure and toiletries that don’t make you wish you’d packed your own. I stayed on the sixth floor and it was surprisingly quiet, even though you can tell the neighborhood has some energy to it during the day. The little details matter here – good lighting for reading, enough outlets where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that, well, actually black out the room.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel sits in the area. You’re not stuck in some sterile hotel district where everything closes at 9 PM. There’s genuine neighborhood life happening around you, which makes the whole experience feel more authentic. I found myself walking to grab coffee in the morning instead of just hitting the hotel restaurant, and that made the trip feel less touristy somehow. The concierge – and this surprised me – actually knew the area beyond the standard tourist recommendations. They pointed me toward this little spot for dinner that I never would have found otherwise.

Look, it’s not perfect – the elevators are a bit slow during busy times, and the gym is functional but nothing special if you’re really into fitness. But honestly? Those are pretty minor complaints. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me because this place delivers on the fundamentals while adding just enough character to make your stay memorable. It’s the kind of hotel where you’re not constantly thinking about what’s wrong with your room or wondering if you should have booked somewhere else. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you want to focus on exploring rather than dealing with hotel drama. I’d definitely stay here again – which, coming from someone who travels way too much for work, is actually saying something.
