You’re about a 15-minute walk from the Acropolis Museum (I timed it), but without all the chaos and overpriced tavernas that come with staying right in Plaka. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – there’s a fantastic bakery just around the corner where locals line up for fresh tiropita every morning, and the evening sounds are more residential chatter than tourist groups. The space itself is genuinely spacious at 70 square meters, which is rare for Athens accommodations that don’t cost a fortune. When they say comfortable, they actually mean it – there’s proper air conditioning that works (trust me, this matters in August), a kitchen that’s actually equipped for real cooking, not just reheating gyros, and the bed is one of those firm European ones that somehow leaves you feeling more rested than expected.

What really struck me was how thoughtfully everything was arranged. The owner clearly knows what travelers need because there are universal adapters already plugged in, decent WiFi throughout, and – this is a small thing but it matters – proper blackout curtains that actually block the morning sun. The bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads and honestly good water pressure, which can be hit-or-miss in this part of the city. You’ll also appreciate the little touches like having olive oil and basic spices already in the kitchen, and there’s even a guidebook with handwritten notes about local spots. The location gives you easy access to the metro (Syngrou-Fix station is maybe a 7-minute walk), so getting around is straightforward without dealing with the tourist trap areas until you actually want to. I found myself walking to the National Gallery in about 20 minutes, and there’s this amazing souvlaki place called Thanasis that’s closer than any of the famous ones near Monastiraki – honestly, the locals know what they’re doing. The 4-star rating feels accurate, and that 9.8 guest rating? Yeah, I get it now. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Athens, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that reliability is worth more than all the marble lobbies in the world.

  The apartment is very clean and at a very good location with few minutes walk to the metro station. The decorations and designs of the apartment are beautiful and very comfortable. The landlord is very nice and friendly and provides us a lot of good spots and nice restaurants in Athens. Overall, it was very happy to have such wonderful stays for our first time in Athens.

  This place is wonderful! The pictures do not do it justice. Everything you could want to make you feel at home . Cold AC, comfortable beds, games, nice balcony,washing machine, nice toiletries,great kitchen, lots of extras provided in the kitchen including tea, coffee ,toast and spreads for breakfast. Good location with lots of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Mario's is wonderful & one of the best host we have had. He is there to help you with anything you need. The lady who cleans for him does a wonderful job and is very nice. Our family really enjoyed Mario's Place and cannot wait to return.

His recommendations for dinner were always spot on and great value. The apartment had great beds and the bathroom was awesome aswell.   Located in in a quite neighborhood, close to metro station . This apartment is in great condition with everything you need inside. The host is very friendly, spent time explaining how everything in the apartment works, also provided useful information on nearby shops & restaurants. Highly recommended.

  Easy train ride into the City. We got a little lost finding the apartment, but Google Maps found the way. The very friendly owner met us in the 3rd floor apartment to hand over the keys, show us round and point us in the right direction for dinner. Lovely apartment, very clean and tidy, newly decorated, modern and bright. Best thing, lovely and cool!
