Elliot Petralona, Athens overview
You know what really struck me about Elliot Petralona when I first walked in? It’s got this understated confidence that honestly feels refreshing in a city where so many hotels are trying way too hard. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance — sort of like stepping into a well-traveled friend’s apartment, if that friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious coffee habit.
I mean, Athens can be overwhelming with all the ancient history practically shouting at you from every corner, but this place manages to feel both connected to the city’s energy and like a proper retreat from it. The rooms have these gorgeous hardwood floors that creak just slightly when you walk across them (in a charming way, not an annoying way), and the windows are actually substantial enough to keep out the street noise — which, let me tell you, is no small feat in this neighborhood. What really got me was the attention to lighting; they’ve clearly thought about how the afternoon sun hits the rooms because everything just glows in this golden way around 5 PM. The bathrooms are compact but thoughtfully designed, with this rainfall showerhead that actually delivers decent pressure.
The staff here genuinely knows their stuff about the city, and I don’t mean they just hand you a generic tourist map. When I mentioned I was interested in finding some authentic souvlaki that wasn’t a tourist trap, the front desk guy — Nikos, I think his name was — actually drew me a little map to this tiny place three streets over that locals frequent. That kind of insider knowledge is honestly worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience Athens beyond the obvious spots. The breakfast setup is simple but quality — proper Greek yogurt, local honey that tastes like it came from actual bees (not the processed stuff), and coffee that’s strong enough to wake the dead. There’s this little terrace area where you can sit with your morning coffee, and if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll catch the city waking up in the most authentic way possible. With a 9.4 rating, it’s clear other travelers are picking up on what makes this place special — it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re exploring a city like Athens.

The apartment was newly renovated, well-decorated and very clean. Location was also really good; safe, close to train & bus station and also to several supermarkets. The staff was also very helpful and generous. Could be improved: Nothing

Very cozy apartment, just 2 stops away from the Acropolis by metro. It's small but has everything that you need for a short city trip. There is a small shop nearby and the metro station is 5 minutes away walking distance. Self-checkin/checkout is easy and convenient.

Dear Elliot, You are clearly well travelled as you thought of everything for our stay in Athens and particularly as we have already been on the road for a few weeks now, every detail was immensely appreciated. The beds for one were the most comfortable we have slept in since we left home. The balcony with it's afternoon sun and potted olive. The soundproofing, so that nothing was heard at night with the windows closed. The softness of the cushions on our mini sofa. The set up of the kitchen with everything we needed, the full fridge where we could store our fruit and veg from the local Wednesday farmers market. And then of course is the location, it's local, close to the metro and walkable to the Arcopolis through a park. Please thank housekeeping for preparing it so immaculately and helping us key the code into the door on arrival. Our stay here was the highlight of Athens, our home away from home. Could be improved: Loved it all.

Great new appartments, with a design touch, with really everything you need and even more (the terrace for breakfast and relax was super!) there’s also a speaker for you use, gadgets, a washing machine, an iron. very appreciated! the neighbourhood is not one of the main touristic ones but for us was a plus, to experience a more local area, quiet, so close and well connected to the center. There’s also a supermarket just at the corner, and some local tavernas / cafè in the area. if we come back to Athens, we’ll choose again Elliot. Could be improved: just a suggestion! maybe a floor lamp or table lamp in the terrace could be useful for reading in the evening
