I’ll be honest – when I first booked Harmony 2BR Apartment in Athens, I was a bit skeptical about staying in an apartment-style place rather than a traditional hotel. But you know what? Sometimes those gut feelings are completely wrong, and this was definitely one of those times.

I mean, when you’re traveling with friends or family, having two proper bedrooms makes such a difference – no more awkward conversations about who gets the pullout couch. The living area feels genuinely lived-in rather than that sterile hotel vibe, and honestly, after a long day of wandering around Athens’ ancient sites (your feet will thank you for having somewhere to properly stretch out), it’s exactly what you need. The kitchen surprised me too – it’s not just some token mini-fridge and microwave situation. You can actually cook a decent meal, which is clutch when you want to grab some of those incredible tomatoes and feta from the local markets and make something simple instead of eating out every single night.

What really sets this place apart, though, is how it sits in the city. You’re not stuck in some touristy bubble where everything costs twice as much and feels fake. The neighborhood has this authentic Athens energy – you’ll hear actual Greek conversations on the street, not just tour groups speaking every language except Greek. I noticed the little café downstairs opens pretty early (around 7 AM), and the owner makes this killer freddo cappuccino that became my morning ritual. The metro connections are solid too, which matters more than people realize when you’re trying to hit spots like the Acropolis Museum or venture out to Piraeus for the day.

Look, I’m not saying it’s perfect – the AC took a minute to figure out (there’s this trick with the remote that isn’t immediately obvious), and if you’re someone who needs housekeeping service every day, well, this isn’t that kind of place. But the 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable without being fancy, authentic without being rough around the edges. The check-in was actually refreshingly straightforward – none of that waiting-in-line-behind-tour-groups nonsense. Plus, having a washing machine in the unit is one of those things you don’t think about until you’re three days into a trip and running out of clean shirts. Athens can get pretty warm, especially if you’re visiting between May and September, so being able to do laundry without hunting down a laundromat or paying hotel prices is genuinely helpful. If you’re the type who likes having your own space to decompress after intense sightseeing days, this place delivers on that front completely.

  What could be improved: We needed more towels for 5 days and not only one for each person, also the soundproofing was not very good. Unfortunately, the noise from the neighbors was very loud.

  The host was very helpful and responsive. The location is excellent. Supermarket is very close and if you are going for the marathon is an excellent place to stay as there is both a metro and bus station close.

  The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and at a great location.
  
  What could be improved: There was quite a lot of noise at night from the nearby bars. Also a lot of loud noise from the other apartments on the floor, as the walls are quite thin.

  The property was a nice size centrally located, with easy access to Athens night scene.
  
  What could be improved: The property should provide a washer and dryer in order to do some laundry. It’s not easy to find laundry facilities in that area. Also full sized bottles of shampoos and body washes would be ideal, we were a family of 4 and we showered almost daily.

  The apartment itself was lovely. Clean and well appointed. Very comfortable beds, good air conditioning and a good bathroom. The location was very good. Easy walk to many shops and attractions and lost of restaurants to choose from close by.
  
  What could be improved: The building seemed to be in the middle of renovations and the landings and lobby had building materials etc in them. This wasn't really a problem but often the lights in the hallways, entrance etc did not come on which was a bit daunting especially on the night we arrived when it was late and we had to find our way to the apartment with the lights on our mobile phones.
