Νew Thission Luxury Apartment Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the New Thission Luxury Apartment? It’s actually tucked away in one of Athens‘ most underrated neighborhoods, and honestly, I think that’s exactly what makes it special. Thissio isn’t where most tourists end up – they’re all cramming into Plaka or circling the Acropolis – but this area has this authentic Greek residential vibe that feels like you’re staying where actual Athenians live.
The apartment itself really does live up to that “luxury” part of the name, which I wasn’t entirely expecting from the photos online. I mean, the furnishings are genuinely nice – not just IKEA dressed up to look expensive – and the kitchen is one of those places where you’d actually want to cook breakfast instead of just heating up instant coffee. The bathroom has this rainfall shower that, well, let’s just say I spent way more time in there than necessary. What I really appreciated though were the little touches: proper blackout curtains (trust me, Greek summer sun is no joke), quality linens that didn’t feel scratchy, and outlets positioned where you actually need them. The whole place stays surprisingly quiet too, even though you’re in the middle of a living neighborhood – I think it helps that it’s not right on one of the main tourist drags.
Here’s the thing about staying in Thissio that most people don’t realize – you’re actually perfectly positioned for exploring Athens without dealing with the chaos of the historical center. The Ancient Agora is literally a five-minute walk, and you can stroll over to the Acropolis through these winding residential streets that feel like a discovery every time. Plus, there’s this little taverna around the corner (I wish I could remember the exact name, but it has blue chairs outside) where locals go for lunch, and the owner’s grandmother still makes the most incredible spanakopita I’ve ever had. The neighborhood has that lived-in feeling during the day – kids playing in small squares, older Greek men playing backgammon under trees – but it settles into this peaceful quiet by evening. Honestly, after a day of tourist crowds and museum lines, coming back here felt like retreating to your own little corner of Athens rather than just another hotel room.

Excellent location for a visit to Athens. 2 supermarkets within 30 seconds walk of the property. Lots of lovely cafes and restaurants to eat in within 1-2 minutes walk from the front door. Yet, really quiet on the bit of the road the apartment is on, so when you want to sleep, you won’t be disturbed.
Very comfy beds. Quiet air conditioning units. Well equipped kitchen. Great balcony to enjoy some fresh air. Roomy lounge and large table for food/ games.Sharon from South Africa (10/10)

I was very surprised as this is the first time
We used apartments rather than hotels for our family holiday.
Very comfortable and well equipped. They even filled a jug of water and ice and had it in the Fridge for us.
Excellent location right by the ring road around the acropolis (10 min walk) and Monastiraki (15 min walk).
Opposite the apartment are two pharmacies and well stocked supermarkets.
Metro is 10 mins away tooMeghan from United States of America (10/10)
This was the perfect spot for my mom, sister and I! We felt safe, the host was quick responsive, transport from airport was easily set up for a small fee. The place it self we had room to move we weren’t on top of each other and had all amenities we needed. The location we were walking distance to markets and restaurants. Because of the heat we did Uber a few times (to Acropolis, dinner) and were able to walk down. Would recommend to everyone!

This apartment really is a great find! It is so close to the Acropolis and the nicest restaurants in Athens. We found the apartment without any difficulty and the key was in the lockbox as described. We are a family of 5 (kids are 13, 15 and 20 year old) The 20 yr old was happy to sleep on the sofa and commented that it was really comfy and great to have a TV with Netflix. The other two bedrooms were beautifully clean, with really comfy large beds and pristinely clean bedding. The apartment has all the amenities you need. Very comfortable and spacious with great air con and in an amazing location. There's a supermarket on the other side of the road and pharmacy too. No need to hire a car, everything is in walking distance. I happily highly recommend this apartment and would stay here again.
