You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Exarcheia Vibe Penthouse 1 when I first booked it – honestly, the name sounds a bit try-hard, doesn’t it? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you step into this penthouse, you get why it scored an 8.9 rating. The space feels genuinely lived-in but polished, if that makes sense – like someone with great taste actually designed it for comfort, not just Instagram photos.

The location in Exarcheia is absolutely perfect if you want to experience Athens like locals do. I mean, forget about being stuck near Syntagma with all the tourist traps – this neighborhood has soul. You’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the best coffee spots in the city (and trust me, Athenians take their coffee seriously), plus there are these incredible little tavernas tucked into side streets that you’d never find otherwise. The whole area buzzes with this creative energy – lots of students, artists, and people who actually live here rather than just passing through. Sure, it can get a bit lively at night, especially on weekends, but honestly? That’s part of the charm. The penthouse itself is high enough that you get the neighborhood vibe without feeling like you’re sleeping in a nightclub.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to detail – the kind of stuff you only notice when someone’s actually thought about what travelers need. The kitchen is properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the space, and there’s this fantastic terrace where I ended up spending way too much time with morning coffee and evening wine. The shower pressure is excellent, which honestly makes or breaks a place for me after long days of walking around the city. Check-in was smooth too – no awkward key exchanges or confusing instructions. It’s clearly a well-run operation behind the scenes. The only tiny critique? The air conditioning unit in the main room can be a bit noisy, but you get used to it, and honestly, most nights the cross-breeze from opening the terrace doors works just fine. For a 4-star place, it definitely overdelivers – you’re getting penthouse views and local neighborhood authenticity without paying those ridiculous Plaka prices.

  Clean and modern apartment, friendly staff. Good location. Close to underground station, Restaurants , bars and supermarket. Large terrace. Good equipment, but not enough glasses and cups for 4 guests

  The location, although in an older part of the city, was situated nicely and within a reasonable walking distance of the Syntagma Square (within two miles) which has numerous restaurants, changing of the guards, and numerous museums. There is also a tourist information office located in the square where one can find out about a lot of different activities. The property manager, Ioannis, was super helpful and responsive throughout our stay. All in all it was a nice place and I would consider staying there again being assured that the issues I encountered would be addressed.
  
  What could be improved: There were some initial problems at the apartment that were taken care of promptly by Ioannis who was very helpful and available throughout our stay. One of the bedrooms had a mildew problem from water leaking from the adjacent bathroom. The cooktop worked but had cracks. These two problems are due to be fixed very soon. Be aware that in the older parts of the city, some buildings, this property, have plumbing systems that do not handle toilet paper disposal well. The flushing of toilet paper is not advised. It took some getting used to, but we adjusted to the alternative disposal process well.

  very new and well presented. great location near centre of city. the response time and communication with the host (Nasos) was excellent
  
  What could be improved: The power tripped the safety switch if too many appliances were running, e.g. stove and air conditioner. this meant calling the host to reset the power external to the apartment. The street was a bit unique with its graffiti and some of the people.
