Syntagma Square is literally a few minutes’ walk, which sounds touristy until you realize that’s also where you catch the metro to pretty much anywhere in Athens – including straight to the airport, which saved me about 40 euros in taxi fare. But here’s the thing locals know: being near Syntagma also means you’re walking distance to some genuinely good neighborhoods. I’d wander over to Plaka in the evenings (maybe 10 minutes on foot) or head toward Monastiraki when I wanted something more authentic than the hotel restaurant scene. The staff actually gave me solid recommendations too, not just the obvious tourist traps.

What I appreciated most was the attention to practical stuff that four-star places sometimes overlook. The air conditioning actually works – and trust me, if you’re visiting Athens in summer, this isn’t negotiable. Check-in was smooth, none of that “your room isn’t ready yet” drama even though I arrived early afternoon. The loft setup means you get more space than typical hotel rooms, which is clutch if you’re like me and spread your stuff everywhere. I honestly can’t remember the last time I stayed somewhere with this much room to breathe. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and – small detail but it matters – the water pressure is excellent. Sometimes it’s the simple things, you know? The 8.2 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the most luxurious place in Athens, but it delivers on what it promises and then some. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since the neighborhood gives you that authentic Athens feel while keeping you connected to everything you actually want to see.

  Property owner was great to communicate, very helpful and even organising taxis for us.

  We had a pleasant stay at the apartment. It was exceptionally clean, conveniently located near the city center, and the host was highly responsive.
  
  What could be improved: The only drawback we experienced was the noise from the surrounding area, primarily due to nearby bars, which made the evenings somewhat loud.
