People genuinely love this place, and after spending some time there, I totally get why.

The thing about Marika is that it feels like someone actually thought about how real people travel. The apartment setup is brilliant if you’re the type who gets tired of eating every meal out (and let’s be honest, who isn’t after a few days?). The kitchen isn’t just for show – it’s actually equipped with stuff you’d want to use, not those sad hotel kitchenettes with one bent fork and a microwave from 1995. I ended up grabbing groceries from the local market and cooking breakfast most mornings, which honestly became one of my favorite parts of the trip. There’s something nice about starting your day with coffee you made yourself, especially when you can sit by the window and watch the neighborhood wake up.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail – little things that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere that cares. The Wi-Fi actually works (I know, revolutionary concept), the shower has proper water pressure, and the bed is legitimately comfortable. Not that firm-as-a-rock hotel standard that leaves you wondering if you should’ve packed a yoga mat. The whole space feels clean without that aggressive antiseptic smell some places have, and there’s enough storage that you can actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two. I also appreciated how quiet it was – you know how some places are great until 2 AM when you realize you’re next to the elevator or above the ice machine? Not an issue here. Even with the windows open, it stayed peaceful enough to sleep well. The staff clearly knows what they’re doing too – check-in was smooth, and when I had a question about the area, they had actual helpful suggestions instead of just pointing to a rack of tourist brochures.

  Excellent location,easy access to downtown, shop (with limited choice) next door for 24 hours. Very good price-quality proportion.
  Very clean, good even for 5 people, comfortable beds, properly equipped. Do not expect luxury, but perfect for short stays.

  The location is great, the house is large and contains everything you might need.

  This was a wonderful place to stay in Athens. Very nice apartment, with everything you need and sparkling clean. There is a 24 h small market just next door and the subway station is a 5 minutes walk. Neighborhood is pleasant and safe. The host, Marika, is a wonderful person too, very helpful, very kind and friendly. We enjoyed staying at this location and I recommend it dearly.
