The rooms themselves feel thoughtfully put together rather than just decorated by committee. There’s this nice balance of traditional touches – some beautiful tilework in the bathrooms, wooden shutters that actually work – mixed with modern necessities that you don’t really notice until they’re missing elsewhere. With a 9.5 rating, you’d expect things to be pretty polished, and they are, but not in that sterile, overly precious way that can make you afraid to actually use anything. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they’ve thought about what travelers actually need – good water pressure, reliable wifi, decent lighting for reading – rather than just what looks impressive in photos.
