Honestly, when I first saw the name Museum of Modern Art Apartment next to Suggrou Fix metro- big, safe and central, I thought it was going to be one of those overly ambitious listings that promises everything and delivers nothing. But you know what? This place actually lives up to its ridiculously long name – well, mostly.

The location is genuinely fantastic if you’re the type who wants to dive into Athens without dealing with tourist trap central. Sygrou-Fix station is literally right there (and I mean actually right there, not the “5-minute walk” that turns into 15 minutes with luggage), which means you’re connected to both the red and green metro lines. That’s huge because it opens up the entire city without the nightmare of Athens traffic. The apartment itself sits in this interesting pocket of the city where you get that authentic neighborhood vibe – there’s a little bakery downstairs that smells incredible every morning, and the old Greek guys who hang out at the corner café will nod at you after day three like you’re practically local.

Inside, the space is surprisingly generous for European standards. I mean, you can actually open a suitcase without rearranging all the furniture, which honestly felt luxurious after some of the shoebox hotels I’ve stayed in around Europe. The “big” part of the name isn’t marketing fluff – there’s a proper living area that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, and the kitchen has enough counter space to actually prepare something beyond instant coffee. The decor leans modern without being sterile (though calling it “Museum of Modern Art” adjacent might be pushing it slightly). What impressed me most was how quiet it stays despite being so central – the windows must be decent quality because even during rush hour, you’re not dealing with that constant Athens traffic symphony that can drive you crazy elsewhere in the city.

The safety aspect they mention is real too. The building has proper security, and this part of town doesn’t have that sketchy after-dark feeling you get in some areas closer to Omonia. Walking back from dinner at 11 PM felt completely comfortable, even for solo travelers. Check-in was smooth – none of that “meet me at the corner in 20 minutes” nonsense that some apartment rentals pull. The 8.4 rating makes sense because while everything works well and the location truly delivers, it’s not trying to be a luxury experience. It’s more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place who happens to live in a perfect spot. The value proposition is solid, especially considering you’re getting apartment-level space and freedom in a location that would cost significantly more at a traditional hotel. Just don’t expect daily housekeeping or a concierge – but honestly, when you’re this well-connected to everything Athens has to offer, you probably won’t need either.

  Easy to check in, clean with a lovely, eclectic, hippy vibe. The rooms are big and there was a bowl of fresh fruit on our arrival.

  Perfect location with easy access to the Acropolis and neighborhoods. Large bedrooms with comfortable mattresses. Full kitchen and two bathrooms all had necessary supplies.
  
  What could be improved: Tiny living space and kitchen table made gathering difficult, though I think the space was designed as a hostel. Otherwise, excellent.

  Great location – convenient for metro, trams and buses but also walking distance from major attractions and central area. Nice local cafes and restaurants. Nice bedrooms with comfy beds. Great air conditioning.
  
  What could be improved: Entrance hall and stairway was a bit grim. Although we had the whole apartment it looks like rooms can be rented individually so lots of notices about sharing – felt like student digs.
  A bit put off by CCTV signs inside apartment – felt like we were being watched!
  Bathroom a bit outdated unlike rest of the apartment which was modern – shower over bath with window opening towards you not the best.
  No communal area to sit. Only 3 chairs in kitchen.

  Great apartment for a group of friends. Would have preferred a bigger lounge area though. Apart from that all good. Hosts very quick to communicate with us.

  beds comfy and clean and accomodation was so easy to get to. so close to acropolis. (12 min. walk) but so many wonderful shops and places to eat and close to the market.
