Nana’s Residence Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Nana’s Residence — the name honestly made me think it might be some cutesy B&B with doilies everywhere. But this 4-star spot completely surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you walk through those doors, there’s this warm, lived-in elegance that feels more like staying at your sophisticated aunt’s house than a typical hotel. The lobby has these gorgeous hardwood floors that actually creak a little when you walk across them (in a charming way, not an annoying way), and there’s always this subtle scent of something floral — maybe jasmine? — that makes the whole place feel welcoming without being overwhelming.
What really sets this place apart is how the staff treats you. I mean, within a day they knew my coffee order and would just nod when I came down for breakfast. The rooms themselves are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around, and honestly, the beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in — not too soft, not too firm, just right. The bathrooms are surprisingly modern considering the traditional feel of everything else, with these rain showerheads that actually have decent water pressure. One small thing that impressed me was the soundproofing — I was expecting to hear every footstep from upstairs, but the nights were surprisingly quiet. The only minor complaint I’d have is that the air conditioning can be a bit temperamental, but honestly, opening the windows usually did the trick anyway.
With a 9.0 rating, this place is clearly doing something right, and after staying there myself, I totally get it. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — it’s just genuinely comfortable and well-run. The kind of place where you can actually relax and feel at home, which is rarer than you’d think these days. If you’re looking for a hotel that feels more like a retreat than just somewhere to crash, Nana’s Residence hits that sweet spot perfectly. Plus, the value for what you get is honestly pretty impressive for a 4-star property.
Best hotels in Athens range from charming boutique properties in the historic Plaka district to elegant rooftop hotels with stunning views of the Acropolis and Parthenon.

We had a very pleasant stay in Nana's residence; it's exactly like the photos, if not better, it's super clean, neat and located in an authentic neighborhood, which happens to be within walking distance of everything.
What's more, the host is kind and very welcoming.

Hosts were so friendly and accommodating. It was absolutely spotless clean, great location, 20 mins max walk into the centre, (tube was 5 mins) loads of small bars and restaurants around (also loads of vegan places). In the more hipster part of town. Accommodation itself has everything you need, exactly like the photos really really gorgeous place and fantastic value for money !!
