Niche Hotel Athens Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Athens, and Niche Hotel Athens honestly surprised me in the best way possible. You know how some hotels try too hard to be boutique-y and end up feeling pretentious? This isn’t that. When I walked into the lobby, it had this effortless cool vibe – sort of minimalist but warm at the same time, with these gorgeous local marble touches that didn’t scream “look at me, I’m fancy” but just felt… right.
What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to know Athens, I mean really know it. The guy at the front desk – I think his name was Dimitris – didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. He marked up this little neighborhood guide with places where locals grab their morning coffee (there’s this tiny spot around the corner that does the most incredible frappe), and he warned me about which metro stations get crazy crowded during rush hour. That kind of insider knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to navigate a city like Athens. The rooms themselves are beautifully done – clean lines, really comfortable beds, and the bathroom had this amazing rainfall shower that I honestly didn’t want to leave. Plus, the air conditioning actually works properly, which anyone who’s been to Athens in summer will tell you is non-negotiable.
Here’s the thing though – and this might sound weird – but it’s the little stuff that made me remember this place fondly. The elevator is whisper quiet (you don’t realize how much hotel elevator noise bothers you until you don’t have it), and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually block out the Mediterranean sun when you want to sleep in. I also loved that the minibar wasn’t ridiculously overpriced – I mean, it wasn’t cheap, but it wasn’t highway robbery either. The location works really well too; you’re close enough to all the major sites that you can walk to most places, but you’re not stuck in the middle of the tourist chaos. I could step outside and within five minutes be having a proper Greek breakfast at a place where I was literally the only non-Greek person. That 9.1 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it does everything it promises really, really well. If you want somewhere that feels authentically Athenian without sacrificing comfort, this is your spot.

Amazing location just in heart of Athens! Everything was walking distance.
Breakfast was amazing, with many healthy options like freshly squeezed juices. Food was fresh and tasty ( loved greek yogurt tiramisu! ). Many vegetarian options.
Rooms were super clean. Honestly, haven’t been in such a clean place for such a long time although, I travel a lot every month.
Staff were super helpful and friendly.

November 2024 – Niche room 19 m2:
In the first place the Coco-Mat boxspringbed including the soft topdeck mattrass. Amongst the 3 hotels we have visited, this was the best to sleep. No hard beds, which are very common in Greece and are a problem for me because of the chronic nerve pain in my lower back.
In a shared first place the hotel staff. The were super friendly and on a high level of hospitality. And this applies to all the staff; in the lobby, front desk, breakfast area, room attendants etc. They all were amazing!
We loved the atmospere of the room and the functionality of the bathroom. Great shower.
The fresh made coffee and fresh orange juice at the breakfast were very enjoyible.Janet from United States of America (10/10)

The location, staff, view from the top floor during breakfast, and cleanness. For a few minutes walk, you can get to the subway, bus, Acropoli, Parthenon, eateries, and gift shop, but it's located on the corner of busy streets, so it is NOISY if the window opens in the room. Breakfast was excellent, though for us, it was way too much. The staff were all very friendly, professional, and accommodating. From the airport, 50 min by metro, 30min by taxi ($45-$60 depending on time)

A really nice boutique hotel near the best landmarks of Athens. The staff was absolutely great, everyone at the reception, at breakfast, also the cleaning staff, they really looked after us in the best possible way. The breakfast room at the 8th floor has got a fantastic view over the Acropolis. The variety of cakes is quite good.
