Skip Away from the Acropolis Museum by Athenian Homes Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Skip Away from the Acropolis Museum by Athenian Homes, I thought it was a bit of a mouthful, but after staying there, I actually get it. You’re literally a quick hop away from the museum (maybe a 3-minute walk if you’re strolling slowly), but tucked into this quieter pocket of the neighborhood where you’re not dealing with tour groups streaming past your window at 7 AM.

The thing that struck me right away was how the owners managed to nail that sweet spot between authentic Athens living and having everything a traveler actually needs. The apartment – because that’s really what this is, part of their collection of properties – feels like staying in a friend’s place, if your friend happened to have really good taste and knew exactly what you’d want after a long day of sightseeing. The kitchen is properly equipped (I mean, there’s actually decent olive oil and real coffee), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that you don’t expect in a 4-star place. You know what really impressed me though? The air conditioning actually works well, which sounds basic but trust me, in August in Athens, it’s everything.

Location-wise, you’re in this perfect little bubble where you can walk to the major sites without feeling like you’re staying in the middle of a tourist trap. The Plaka is right there when you want that classic taverna experience, but you can also wander over to the more local spots on Adrianou Street where Athenians actually go for coffee. I discovered this tiny bakery around the corner – probably a 2-minute walk – that does these incredible cheese pies that became my daily breakfast ritual. The Metro is close enough to be convenient but not so close that you hear the trains. And honestly, with a 9.3 rating, I was expecting something good, but the attention to detail really caught me off guard. Little things like having a decent wine opener (seriously, why do so many places cheap out on this?), blackout curtains that actually block light, and WiFi that doesn’t cut out when you’re trying to video call home. The check-in was smooth – they met me right at the apartment, gave me the local intel on where to shop for groceries, and didn’t make me feel rushed with questions about the neighborhood.

Athens’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of ancient heritage and modern comfort, with many featuring archaeological tour services and authentic Greek hospitality.

Reviews of Skip Away from the Acropolis Museum by Athenian Homes

  • Luisa from Italy – 31 May 2025 (10/10)

Everything was perfect. I will definitely be back🤩

  • Arianna from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (10/10)

The location is perfect, it's a great little apartment for a stay in the City center of Athens.
So close to the Acropolis, loads of places to eat, the tram stop and all the main attractions of the city center. Would definitely book again.

What could be improved: The shower door was broken, so the bathroom kept flooding, but it dried quickly, so it wasn't a big problem

  • Ian from United States – 14 November 2024 (8/10)

The design inside is very efficient and clean. It’s a lovely appointed apartment from medium to long stay.

What could be improved: The check-in process was complex. The keys are kept in a lockbox and the code is provided, but the lockbox is located with several at least three other lockboxes and has no distinguishing factor. The owner said they would put a sticker on it that the sticker had come off.

  • Walker from Canada – 29 October 2024 (9/10)

This is a great place to stay to be able to explore Athens. It is a safe area, walkable to the tourism sites and the markets, and has everything you need. There are great shops and restaurants on the same street, but many many others are nearby.

What could be improved: The shower curtain is missing – looks like this is going to be fixed from what we saw.

  • Shaharul from Malaysia – 20 October 2024 (10/10)

This accommodation is perfectly located and superbly equipped.
Check in was seamless and easy. Check out equally so.
The kitchen was really well equipped but strangely without kitchen knives or chopping boards.
We were comfortable and everything was better than expected. We will be back!

What could be improved: The shower does flood a bit due to the lack of the shower curtain or screen but it's a small matter and not really a concern.
I do wish they had a chopping board and kitchen knives though!

  • Andrew from New Zealand – 4 October 2024 (10/10)

Close to restaurants good communication with hosts

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Milonas from United States – 1 October 2024 (10/10)

    The location!

What could be improved: Loved it!

  • Katerina from Czech Republic – 21 September 2024 (10/10)

Nice flat is 5 minutes of Acropolis.
We have all what we needed.

  • Samantha from United States – 14 September 2024 (10/10)

Excellent location—4 minute walk to the Acropolis. 8 minutes to the Plaka. Tons of shops and restaurants, plus there was a little grocery store right by the metro stop that was super convenient and also like a 6 minute walk. There was some traffic noise—nothing super disruptive, though. Also, as a solo traveler, I felt very safe in the apartment and neighborhood. The apartment is very clean, updated, and perfect for 1-2 travelers. The property owner is very responsive and easy to reach if needed. I loved my stay!!!

    What could be improved: Nothing!!

  • Tess from Australia – 12 September 2024 (9/10)

The whole property was great! Spacious lounge and dining area. Fast wifi. Comfortable bed and pillows + everything was clean.

What could be improved: The shower. The pressure was good but it was small and missing the door. The water would go over the floor without the door present.
