Pagrati itself is one of those neighborhoods that feels like Athens‘ best-kept secret (though I guess it’s not so secret anymore). It’s got this laid-back, residential energy that’s completely different from the chaos around Syntagma or Monastiraki. The suite sits right in the heart of it all, where you’ll find yourself walking past corner tavernas that have been family-run for decades and little kafeneia where locals actually hang out reading newspapers. What I loved is that you’re close enough to everything – the National Gallery is basically a pleasant stroll away – but far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually hear yourself think. Well, except for the occasional motorbike at night, but that’s just Athens being Athens.

The suite itself feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a typical hotel room.
