Urban loft with balcony across the Acropolis! overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first climbed the stairs to this Urban loft with balcony across the Acropolis! – the name sounds a bit generic, you know? But stepping out onto that balcony completely changed everything. I mean, there’s the Acropolis just sitting there across the way like it’s no big deal, and you’re having your morning coffee looking at the Parthenon. It’s one of those moments where you actually feel like you’re in Athens, not just visiting it.
The loft itself has this industrial-chic thing going on that works surprisingly well – exposed brick, high ceilings, the whole nine yards. What I really appreciated though was how functional everything is. The kitchen actually has proper counter space (rare in European rentals, trust me), and there’s decent storage for longer stays. The bed’s comfortable enough, though the upstairs neighbors can get a bit stompy in the evenings – nothing terrible, just typical city apartment life. Check-in was smooth too, which honestly made my day after dealing with some nightmare places in Mykonos the week before.
But let’s talk about that location for a minute. You’re basically in the heart of things without being right in the tourist madness of Plaka. I’d walk down to Monastiraki in about eight minutes for the morning market – and trust me, you want to hit those fruit vendors early before the cruise ship crowds descend around 10 AM. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you’ll see locals doing their grocery shopping and kids playing in the small squares. There’s this little taverna two blocks down (I think it was on Adrianou, but don’t quote me) where the owner doesn’t speak much English but makes incredible moussaka – the kind of place you’d never find without wandering around. The metro’s close enough that you can easily get to the airport or venture out to the coast, but honestly, most days I just walked everywhere. Athens is smaller than you think, and the evening strolls back to the loft with the Acropolis all lit up? Pretty magical, even if it sounds cheesy. Just watch out for the marble sidewalks when it rains – they get slippery as hell.

Reviews of Urban loft with balcony across the Acropolis!

The main selling point of this apartment is the amazing views of the acropolis and the Temple of Hephaestus, which look especially good when lit up at night. The balcony is very large with 2 newer, comfortable chairs. The apartment is very long with huge windows looking out onto the view. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a good comfortable king-sized bed. The second bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed and a very uncomfortable twin bed. The twin bed is lumpy with springs that stick up in an irregular way. The living room had a long sofa which we also used as an adequate bed. It is not a sleeper sofa with a mattress. We just slept on top of the cushions (narrow, but he was a deep sleeper - so it worked for him). The host provided us with very detailed information to get into the building and apartment (which is on the 5th floor). The host included pictures of the lockboxes which was very helpful. Kitchen is adequate - a little small, but larger than many we have seen on our travels. We found all of the necessary utensils (which is not always the case). Clean and had all that we needed. Bathroom is a good size with an unusually large shower, and has a fully closable glass door (unusual in Greece). Many other locations have no shower curtain or door to block the water from leaving the shower area, soaking the bathroom floor. New, quiet air conditioners in both bedrooms and the living room. Kitchen table seats 4 people. If you have difficulty sleeping with outside noise, then this location may be a problem for you. The Monastiraki area is very active at night with some thumping music until midnight. When we turned on all 3 air conditioners and played white noise on our phones it covered the outside noise pretty good. I'm a light sleeper and I was not disturbed. If you have difficulty sleeping when light enters the room in the morning, then note that the entire south-facing wall of the apartment is a giant window - covered adequately with dark blinds. Could be improved: There is an elevator/lift, which is needed because the apartment is on the 5th floor. It's small, which is common in Europe. Be warned that there is not a safety door that closes you in the elevator. I had never seen this before (have travelled to 30 countries). It works fine, but just be cautious not to lean against the elevator door opening because there is no door - you can touch the walls of each level as it ascends/descends and fingers or luggage straps or clothes could accidentally get caught/torn off as the elevator moves up and down. Just be cautious and everything will be fine.

The appartement is very nice, from the terrace you have a great view at the Acropolis and the Agora. Two separate rooms and comfortable beds. Host can be contacted easily and gives clear instructions for check in and check out. When you step out of the appartement you are in the city center so the location is on itself is good Could be improved: It was extremely noisy even with all windows closed…at one side the noise from traffic and at the other side party’s with loud music until late at night (and this was during the week, not the weekend) Unfortunately this has affected our sleep.

The location & views were great. Could be improved: The apartment was spacious & clean, but there was no extra supply of soap and toilet paper. Quantity of bath towels were adequate but some had an unclean moist smell. Noise from the streets was very loud at times both day & night, but understandable given the apartment's central location. We were able to buffer out street noises by using free white noise apps on our phone.
