Vanesa’s House Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Vanesa’s House, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. It sounds so simple, you know? But wow, this place completely caught me off guard in the best possible way. That 9.9 rating isn’t just some fluke either – I mean, you don’t get scores like that without doing something really right.

What strikes you immediately is how Vanesa (and I’m assuming she’s the actual owner, which makes this whole thing even better) has managed to create this perfect balance between feeling like you’re staying at a friend’s incredibly well-appointed home and getting all the polish you’d expect from a solid 4-star spot. The attention to detail is honestly impressive – I’m talking about things like actually good coffee in the morning, not that hotel lobby swill, and towels that don’t feel like sandpaper. You know those little touches that make you think “oh, someone who actually travels stayed here and fixed all the annoying stuff”? That’s the vibe throughout.

I spent a good chunk of time just wandering around, and what really gets me is how thoughtfully everything’s been set up. The common areas feel lived-in but not cluttered – there’s always somewhere comfortable to sit with your laptop or just decompress after a day of exploring. And speaking of exploring, Vanesa clearly knows her neighborhood inside and out because the recommendations she gives (whether it’s through notes left around or if you catch her in person) are spot-on. Not the typical tourist traps, but actual places where locals go. I discovered this little café around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, their pastries were better than some fancy hotel breakfast spreads I’ve had.

The rooms themselves strike that sweet spot between cozy and spacious – you’re not bumping into furniture, but it doesn’t feel sterile either. Everything works properly (which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), the WiFi actually reaches every corner, and the beds are legitimately comfortable. I’m pretty picky about mattresses, and I slept better here than I have in some places that cost twice as much. Oh, and the bathrooms – they’ve got that perfect water pressure that makes you want to extend your shower way longer than necessary.

What really sealed the deal for me, though, was the whole check-in experience. No standing around waiting while someone slowly types your information into an ancient computer system. It felt more like being welcomed into someone’s home, which I guess is exactly what it is. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels personal rather than corporate, especially when that personal touch comes with all the reliability you want when you’re traveling.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Athens at least two months ahead for major events like cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near ancient attractions.

Reviews of Vanesa’s House

  • Hakan from Turkey – 1 May 2025 (10/10)

Perfect host, Pepito is excellent person, very friendly and helpful. Apartment was extremely clean, tidy and every details were arranged and organised in advance. Fruit plate and a bottle of wine on the table for welcome was unexpected nice surprise. We rented a car from airport and there was a private parking lot (actually a closed room) for parking the car. However it was not really necessary as subway station was very close, in short walking distance. Acropolis view from balcony was enjoyable. We were extremely careful to leave the apartment clean and tidy how we received, so I hope Pepito is happy too with our stay in her apartment.

What could be improved: None. Everything was perfect.

We had absolutely everything we need in the apartment. It's extremely clean and spacious. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Nice bathroom, pleasant shower and toiletries.
Full equiped kitchen. Tea, coffee, cooking spices and herbs and even fruits we had))
    Nice wifi and smart TV.
Great location! Center of the city! Acropolis nearby and we had a picturesque view to Acropolis from the balcony!)
You need 3 mins to go from the apt to the metro station Neos Cosmos.
We had a great time! And definitely will come again!
    Thank You!)))

The hostess was amazing, great communication, lots of great tips and instructions. Easy to find, great places for coffee or meals nearby. Inexpensive taxi's to the city center and all the importation sites. The home was clean, cozy and stocked with amenities. If you forgot something – it's there! The view from the front and back balcony's are fantastic and great place for coffee or cocktails after a long day. It was the perfect home away from home for our family! We hope to be back one day! 🙂

The appartment itself is amazing. It has all the facilities you can wish for. The location is also very good, with the public transport you will be in the city centre before you know it.
Next to this, the host is very friendly and willing to help with everything. We also got a nice tour around the house when we checked in.
