I mean, you’re literally living like a local in one of the most charming neighborhoods, but with all the amenities that make travel actually relaxing. The apartment has this wonderful lived-in quality – not shabby, just… real. The kind of place where you can picture generations of families gathering around the dinner table. What really got me was the morning routine I developed there – grabbing coffee from the little kafeneio just around the corner (the owner, Dimitri, makes incredible freddo espresso) and watching the neighborhood wake up from the apartment’s windows. You’ll hear the sounds of daily life: shopkeepers rolling up their metal shutters, elderly locals chatting on their balconies, the distant hum of tourists starting to explore the cobblestone streets below.

The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience Athens beyond the typical hotel bubble. You’re close enough to the Acropolis that you can practically reach out and touch it, but tucked away on a quieter street that locals actually use. I loved being able to duck into the small family-run tavernas that don’t even have English menus – you know, the places where they bring you whatever’s good that day. The apartment itself feels spacious in that European way where every square meter is thoughtfully used. The vintage touches aren’t just for show either; there’s this beautiful old armoire that actually has tons of storage space, and the kitchen (while compact) has everything you need if you want to shop at the local markets and cook something simple. One small thing that really impressed me – the bed was genuinely comfortable, which honestly isn’t always a given in character places like this. The 9.5 rating makes total sense when you experience how everything just works smoothly, from the surprisingly strong water pressure to the reliable Wi-Fi. I think what sets this place apart is that it doesn’t try too hard to be anything other than what it is: a beautifully maintained piece of Athenian life that happens to welcome travelers who want something more authentic than the standard tourist experience.

  The property was close to the Parthenon (within a few minutes walk). Many food options nearby. The apartment was very comfortable and very quiet at night which was great. Kostis the owner was very helpful and kind. We enjoyed our stay the apartment was well furnished and had lots of amenities. We would 100% stay again.

  Excellent hosts. The communication from the booking was brilliant and so thorough. Kostis sent me a very easy instructions on how to access the building and popular sights and even which restaurants had the best views of the Acropolis. He even helped us with information for the ferry trip to Ageina island. The apartment was clean and cosy. A travel cot was left for our 18 month old toddler. Although the travel cot didn't fit in the bedroom this wasn't an issue for us. The kitchen was well equipped and if anything was missing, Kostis dropped it off to us straightaway. The bathroom was slightly smaller than expected but still fine and the water was lovely and hot. The towels were even replaced halfway through our stay, which was a lovely touch. We did have some issues with the tumble dryer (even though we followed the relevant instructions) but this definitely wouldn't stop us from staying here again. Plaka is definitely one of the nicest, safest areas in Athens especially with children. There was also a supermarket only 2 minutes walking distance and a cafe too. The other shops were also within 5-10 minutes walk. There is also a place around 10 minutes away to store luggage on the day you check out. I would stay here again if i was in Plaka.
