Architect Designer’s Apartment in Kolonaki overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about the Architect Designer’s Apartment in Kolonaki, I was a bit skeptical. I mean, “architect’s apartment” sounds like it could go either way, right? Either brilliantly designed or so avant-garde you can’t find the bathroom. But honestly, this place absolutely nailed it, and that 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’re actually there.
The thing about Kolonaki is that it’s where Athenians with good taste actually want to live – not just the touristy spots everyone talks about. You’re walking distance from Lycabettus Hill (and trust me, that sunset view is worth the climb), but you’re also surrounded by those little galleries and cafes that locals frequent. I spent a good chunk of one morning just wandering around the neighborhood streets, and you know what struck me? The architecture is incredible – old neoclassical buildings mixed with these perfectly preserved 1960s apartments that somehow don’t look dated. This particular place fits right into that aesthetic… actually, it sort of elevates it.
What really got me was the attention to detail inside. The designer clearly lives and breathes this stuff – there are these custom-built storage solutions that you don’t even notice at first, but then you realize everything has its perfect place. The lighting is phenomenal too, which matters more than people think, especially in the evenings when you want to relax with a glass of wine from one of the nearby bottle shops. The kitchen actually functions (I’m looking at you, other “designer” places with beautiful but useless kitchens), and there’s this workspace area that made me want to extend my stay just to get some writing done. The whole place feels lived-in but elevated – if that makes sense. I mean, it’s clearly been thoughtfully curated, but it doesn’t feel like a museum where you’re afraid to touch anything.
One thing that surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in such a central area. The building seems solid, and the windows do their job. Though honestly, during the day you’ll want them open anyway because the cross-breeze is lovely, and you can hear the gentle hum of neighborhood life – people chatting at the corner cafe, the occasional motorbike (this is Athens, after all). There’s something really satisfying about feeling connected to the city without being overwhelmed by it. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward key-pickup drama you sometimes get with apartment rentals.

Loved everything about he apartment. The location, the design, everything was clean. The host even sent a breakdown of everything there is to do in the area, such as outdoor theaters, restaurants, sightseeing, and more. He also made sure we got in ok and got out ok and checked on us during our stay to see if we were missing anything. Also, super super cool art deco apartment.
