Athens Parliament Penthouse overview
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Athens, but the Athens Parliament Penthouse honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. I mean, you see the name and think it might be some stuffy government-adjacent place, but it’s actually this incredibly sophisticated spot that feels more like crashing at your most stylish friend’s place – if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious thing for views.
The location is what really gets you though. You’re literally steps from Syntagma Square, which means you can roll out of bed and watch the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier without dealing with crowds if you time it right. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize – being this close to Parliament means you’re in this weird pocket of calm. The streets around here actually quiet down at night (unlike, say, staying near Monastiraki where the party never stops), but you’re still a five-minute walk from some of the city’s best rooftop bars. I found myself just wandering down Ermou Street for shopping, then cutting through the National Gardens when I needed to escape the summer heat – you know how Athens gets in July.
What really sold me on this place was the penthouse situation itself. The space feels genuinely luxurious without being cold or hotel-chain generic. There’s this attention to detail that you notice in small moments – the way the morning light hits the living area, how the shower pressure is actually perfect (honestly, this matters more than people admit), the fact that the air conditioning works silently. I spent way too much time on the terrace with my morning coffee, looking out over the city as it woke up. You can see the Acropolis from certain angles, which never gets old, but you’re also watching real Athens life unfold below – people heading to work, vendors setting up, the rhythm of a city that’s been doing this for thousands of years. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s one of those places where everything just works the way it should. Sure, it’s a 4-star property, but it punches way above its weight. I’ve stayed at supposed 5-star places that felt more sterile and less thoughtful than this. If you’re the kind of traveler who wants to feel like you’re actually living in Athens for a few days rather than just passing through, this is your spot.
Hotel in Athens booking should be done early, especially during summer festival season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural and theatrical performances.

The location and balcony views from the apartment are absolutely terrific as previous reviews state. The apartment itself is bijou but very clean and kitted out with everything for a comfortable stay. The balcony isn't overlooked and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast there every morning. Located in a pleasant, quiet, safe area but just a few minutes from the Syntagma. Whilst we didn't meet the owners they were in touch right from booking and provided all the information we needed. Fruit juice, coffee pods, sugar was kindly left in the fridge for us on arrival (though milk would have been better, we are big tea drinkers and a delay on getting to the apartment because of a metro strike made us too late to get to a supermarket). However there were good eating places open late, again within a few minutes walk that we took advantage of. Can definitely recommend, we loved it and slept really well! Could be improved: The apartment is located on the eighth floor and is served by a snug (especially with two suitcases) two person lift but the internal staircase only goes up to the seventh! Didn't realise before we got there. There is an external spiral staircase in case of emergencies, thankfully we didn't need, the lift though slightly temperamental was reliable, but be aware, if you have severe vertigo like me it wouldn't be an option i.c.e.!

I liked everything. The hosts were extremely helpful and welcoming. I called me when i arrived and they took me to the flat and handed me the keys in person. I asked them if they happened to have an adaptor and they said they had one but someone stole it but they would check again. 1 hour later i see a freshly bought adaptor at my door. This made my life so much easier. The flat is in an excellent location, clean and spacious. I would definitely recommend it.
