Blanco Athens Aparthotel Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Blanco Athens Aparthotel, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the places with the simplest names end up surprising you the most. This 4-star aparthotel has this clean, almost minimalist vibe that actually works really well in Athens, where you’re constantly surrounded by ancient chaos and modern energy colliding everywhere you look.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to create these apartment-style accommodations that don’t feel like you’re staying in someone’s half-finished investment property – and trust me, I’ve been in plenty of those around Europe. The spaces have proper kitchenettes that you’d actually want to use, not just the sad little coffee setup most places throw in a corner. I mean, when you’re in Athens, you’re going to want to grab some of that incredible feta and those tomatoes from the local markets and actually have somewhere decent to enjoy them. The rooms have this bright, airy feeling too – important when you’re dealing with those intense Greek summers and want somewhere cool to retreat to after spending hours wandering around the Plaka or climbing up to the Acropolis.

The thing about Athens is that location really matters more than you might think. Getting around can be… well, let’s just say the traffic situation hasn’t improved much since ancient times, just different vehicles now. So having a base where you can actually walk to the good stuff makes a huge difference. I found myself using the apartment as a proper home base – coming back midday when it got too hot, storing leftovers from those massive Greek portions (seriously, the portions here are no joke), and just having space to spread out my maps and figure out which archaeological site to tackle next.

Here’s what I really appreciated – the staff actually seems to know the neighborhood, not just the tourist highlights everyone mentions. They pointed me toward this little souvlaki place that I never would have found otherwise, tucked away on a side street where actual Athenians eat lunch. That 9.2 rating makes total sense when you stay there, honestly. It’s not flashy or trying too hard to impress, but everything just… works. The Wi-Fi is solid (crucial when you’re trying to figure out museum hours or Metro schedules), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no endless upselling or tourism brochures being shoved at you.

If you’re the type of traveler who wants hotel services but also values having your own space to decompress – especially in a city as intense as Athens can be – this place hits that sweet spot. You get the apartment independence without sacrificing the reliability of a proper hotel operation.

To book hotel in Athens during the famous Athens Festival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts ancient history enthusiasts and cultural travelers from around the world.

10 STARS. Very clean; modern, renovated; comfortable bed and nice linens & towels; private jacuzzi tub for 2 on balcony; soundproof rooms. We appreciated Coffee station. Landlords responded quickly and resolved any matters. Multiple hotel rooms make it convenient for groups to rent in same location. We look forward to staying again on our next visit to Athens.
