Check Point – Acropolis View B overview

You know what hit me first when I walked into Check Point – Acropolis View B? The name doesn’t lie – you actually get those sweeping Acropolis views, and honestly, they’re better than I expected from a 4-star place. I mean, I’ve stayed in pricier hotels where the “view” turned out to be someone’s laundry line, but this spot delivers. The ancient marble columns just sort of float there in the distance, especially gorgeous when the evening light hits them just right.

The whole place has this relaxed, almost residential feel – like staying at a well-traveled friend’s apartment rather than your typical tourist hotel. The rooms are thoughtfully put together without being fussy about it. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone actually thinks about how people live in a space: decent lighting for reading (rare in hotels, honestly), proper blackout curtains for sleeping in, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure was actually impressive. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, which makes a difference. When I asked about getting to Monastiraki without the tourist crowds, the front desk guy gave me this route through the back streets that locals use. You end up walking past these tiny family-run shops and catching glimpses of Athenian life that most visitors miss completely.

Here’s the thing though – the area gets lively in the evenings, which is great if you want to feel connected to the city’s rhythm, but light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. I actually loved hearing the conversations drifting up from the street cafes below, but my travel companion needed the white noise app on her phone. The location puts you close enough to walk everywhere that matters (the Plaka, Ancient Agora, all those postcard spots), but far enough from the main tourist strips that you’re not dodging selfie sticks every time you leave the building. Parking‘s tricky if you’re driving – but honestly, you won’t need a car from here anyway. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find in Athens these days. With a 9.5 rating, other guests clearly feel the same way, and after spending a few days here, I get why people keep coming back.

This is in such a great area. The view is top notch. The room is a nice size. Great service from the host! Air conditioner worked great. Could be improved: The only thing we didn’t like was that at night the hallway lights were out. We just used our phone flashlight to open the door.

This is a wonderful apartment in a perfect location. Unobstructed views of the Acropolis, entrance less than 100 meters away. The Acropolis Museum is on the other side of the street as is the Acropolis Metro station. The Plaka district pedestrian zone starts 100 meters from the apartment. Lots of shops and restaurants are very close (as is a very nice bakery (Takis Bakery). The apartment is very quiet, no cars are allowed in this zone.

Fantastic location. Love the balcony on a warm day. Great view of the Acropolis and the wonderful folks going by. And if you’re lucky a street performer will be out on the street performing some great music. The view is better than the pics. Could be improved: Fantastic space, but the kitchen is a bit small. That said, the restaurants in Athens will make you forget about cooking! Wonderful food and beautiful people.
